I've been cagey all week. Don't remember feeling like this last season. There is the great unknown. Can Essendon recapture their intensity against a pumped up and confident Richmond. Fletcher makes a big difference to our setup and Barnards ability to play both forward and back is also a bonus. Barneys role tonight would be up forward. Our back six are back together again in their preferred positions. When you look at our named squad, i sure hope they line up like that.
Essendon will look to get ontop early. Hirdy should be played out of the square, drawing his opponent (D.Kellaway or J.Bowden) out of the play. I like seeing Hirdy up forward, that is where he can do the most damage. Big games fro JJ and Misiti are needed! Heffernan needs to lift to effectively tag Wayne Campbell/Matthew Knights out of the game, and Ramanauskas needs to lift from his rather ordinary performace last Friday night. This could be said for the majority of players. But a 10-15% lift from these players should be enough to see teh Dons over the line.
I hope!!
