Of the 28-man squad, eight played in our premiership side the previous year.

Some of the remaining 20 had been on our list at one point but been squeezed out, e.g. Gastev, Laidley, Watters, Ishchenko.

14, i.e. half of the squad, had never been on our list. That includes names like Bewick, Bairstow, Winmar, Allan, A.Jakovich, Dorotich.

People need to stop getting their panties in a twist over priority picks . We just won a flag where darling and shuey were priority picks .

Both those guys were end of first round priority picks - Shuey was 18 and Darling was 26 (because Gold Coast’s concessions pushed the first round into the mid-20s that year). If Gold Coast were given those sort of priority picks, as opposed to pick 1, then I doubt there’s any outcry.

We got pre draft picks 3 years and WA zone selections for 4 years . We have a very lucritive zone compared to Gold coast . We were given an established team who made the finals in our 2nd year all whilst we built our list through the draft .

Wasn't there a mini draft in there for the GC as well?

Nope that was GWS .
gc got was pre listing 10 17year olds and got them a year early for training and the draft picks .
4 established players which the afl gave compo picks for . Ablett harbrow brown richetelli .
Draft picks 1 2 3 7 9 10 11 13 .
Extended rookie list .

That was it 1 year of consessions

Because I don’t see the need for their existence? Beacause the well run clubs contribute to their financial black hole? Because we have limits put on our club so we don’t get too far ahead of the basket cases? Because the only people who benefit from this set up are the big Vic clubs that attract GC players at the end of their contracts?

I am sure I could go on. It’s not the picks, it’s the whole club. It is on a never ending road to nowhere.

Why are you complaining?

Because their incompetence is not only hurting us via draft compensation and now zoning, it's also strengthening our competitors and the rest of the VFL.

Apart from our draft pick exchange we haven't stitched them up at all. If we were constantly shafting them like everyone else i'd be less annoyed, but we're not.

None of these WA based youngsters like Swallow, Martin or Ah Chee have requested trades home. None of their talent has come to WA.

• Fremantle got Brayshaw because of GCS overpaying through the ass with pick #2 for a spud like Weller.

• Prestia, Lynch and Caddy (Eventually) all won flags by jumping straight to the premiership favourites from the suns. I'm aware FA played it's part but cheers for making Richmond stronger.

• North Melbourne got Aaron Hall off them for pick 68. 68 FFS. I'd take Aaron Hall over ANY of our midfield depth.

• Hawthorn got a B22 player and former pick #7 Jack Scrimshaw off them for a pack of twisties and a 3rd rounder

• Brisbane took Lyons off their hands via a backdoor handshake at no cost whatsoever

• Kolodjashnij + Steven May for Pick 6.. Righto

• Adam Saad for pick 35 is probably one of the least spud trades they've ever done in their history

^ This shit annoys me. It distorts the rest of the competition when there's 1 feeder spud team propping up whatever VFL club gets a homesick kid nominate them.

Their inability to win, or even breakeven on some of the most simplest trades hurts WCE, and probably Freo too to be fair, in the long run.

Only a matter of time before Lukoscious, King and Rankine are all on the move. My tip is Ainsworth and Bowes leave first.

Of all the incompetence under the Dimetreou era giving birth to the Suns is his crowning failure. A team so ill conceived and useless that they are compromising the integrity of the whole competition. Their mere existence undermines the AFL draft and fixture and all the while channelling money away from grass roots football. No-one supports the team, players don't want to be there and year in year out they get access to the top talent in the AFL only to lose them through to the top Victorian teams. Teams drawing them twice in a season artificially compromises the ladder.

I like how the Vic media are scheming for ways to get TK to Freo instead of us, even though he's stated multiple times he wants to play for us. Patton, Papley, Martin, Langden etc all nominating specific Victorian teams they want to play for and there's no alternate team getting worked into the narrative. Where's the "Jack Martin might have to move to the bulldogs if a suitable trade to Carlton can't be arranged" stories
