I‘m pretty sure you can’t delist players mid season just to take draft picks.

Even if you could, they’re not delisting a bloke who has played seven of eight games.

Keep it to one thread mate, **** me.
No you can't. But players can 'choose to retire', thus creating space for draft picks.

You are right regarding the 7 of 8 games thing, no matter how much hungrytiger would wish it to happen. Just not going to happen.
However, he must have absolutely popped his trousers after today's team announcements!

A few years back we had very similar picks and got Oscar Allen and Jarrod Brander.

yes and similar picks have got us ebert, selwood, swift, shuey, sheed, venables, newman, weedon, stevens, duggan etc. etc.

so even if Allen and Brander go on to play 200+ games each with those sort of picks we'd have a strike rate of about 50/50 over the last decade or so.

WTF would anyone look at trading Mcgovern for that chance.

pick 12 is about 50/50 to play 150 games and pick 21 is about 50/50 to play 100 games.

In comparison to a top 10 in league player like gov or similar or a top 2 pick in a draft with 2 elite talents (on exposed junior form)? not a chance.

I never suggested trading McLovin, some other poster did. I suggested trying to trade for pick 2 using our first rounder and swans 2nd rounder we got last year.

Who would you have given up to get it?

If we **** the bed this year and miss finals, there might be a silver lining to it, a top ten pick for Kelly assuming he still wants to come to us.

Might not happen if we fall away and make the bottom half of the eight.

I wouldnt mind taking a punt on Cockatoo somehow becoming the steak knives in a Kelly trade.

Obvuously struggling with injury but get him out of freezing Geelong and to a nice hot Perth he'd be a low cost high reward punt to take.

Oh how I would LOL if Cockatoo came good.

Thats actually a good idea, WCE wanted him big time at draft time
Like Vardy Perth weather could help him come good

West Coast hope to sit out the mid season draft not planning on participating .
Patrick Bines is out with a long term injury ( hernia operation ) but as a Category B player they essentially sit outside the official list .

Freo are maintaining the faith with H Bennell and Sandilands also so won't participate at this stage .

Cockatoo is worth nothing apparently. I'm sure interest from WC will up the price to a top 20 pick.

The Cats really rate him but he's just had no luck on the injury front.

I expect he'd be loyal to the Cats for sticking with him but he is out of contract and sometimes a change o club and more importantly climate can turn around an injured players fortunes. Good example is Vardy.

Ofer him two years on slightly better coin to come across with Kelly and it isnt silly to see happening.

Cats demand two 1sts. Depending on what our 1st is we say sure for Kelly + Cats 2020 2nd and Cockatoo. Thats getting very close to the Dangerfield trade.

Marlion Pickett linked to Richmond. Will be slightly annoying if they grab him after Stack doing so well for them already.

I was really hoping we'd pick both him and Stack up in the draft.

TBH the club is a bit relunctant bringing on players that might come with controversy. That is both good and bad, but I'd rather we actually back ourselves in more than we do

IMO Pickett wouldn't even have any issues - he turned a corner years ago.

TBH the club won't give anyone a look that might come with even a touch of controversy. That is both good and bad, but I'd rather we actually back ourselves in more than we do if it looks like a player comes with trouble (which IMO isn't the case with Pickett - he had his issues years ago).
I don’t mind if we miss out so much as Richmond benefitting

So the only major hole on our list is small defenders and young elite ball users off the hbf .
Getting coniglio would not only boost our midfield but keep our picks to target the above players.

Jeremy Sharpe would be a great get with our first.

Also callum ahchee is out of contract and showed some very good signs after being switched to the backline last year . He is injured at the moment and could be gettable .

Out masten schofield jetta ( retired )
Mutimur nelson not afl standard

In coniglio C ahchee sharp + 2 more in the ND

Be nice if we were getting a player of Dangerfield's calibre.

TBH I think we have dangerfield Calibre players already on the list and he was always going to be traded for less than he was worth but more than free agency compo.

Kelly + Cockatoo + Geelong 2020 second for WCE 2019 + 2020 first round picks + Nelson doesn't sound that unreasonable to me. With the inclusion of Rohan and Dahlhaus they really don't have a spot on the park for Cockatoo. They may suggest however with Kelly out of the side they then would. Kelly would still need to solely nominate west coast however otherwise the value is off. It also needs Geelong to rate Nelson at least a bit (I still see him as potential AFL quality)

Means we go into this years draft with 2 second rounders and next years draft with 2 second rounders. Depending on finishing positions they may also want either a better player in the swap or to swap their 2019 second rounder for sydney's. However at this stage that is getting very close to being 2 picks in the teens, a pick in the early 20's and a fringe player for Tim kelly, 2 picks picks in the late 30's and someone who whilst formerly a first rounder is now a fringe player with injury issues.

Quinten Narkle + Tim Kelly for our 2019 1st rounder and Sydney's 2nd round pick .
Feel we could be overpaying for a player we should have managed to draft earlier drafts ....we missed the boat with Kelly he's a Geelong player we don't want to overpay .
Going to the draft isn't a bad idea .

Geelong will want more then we can offer now .

considering Tim Kelly's getting to the point of being the nearly the best midfielder geelong have and better then any west coast have.
