So we'll probably not pick him up, wait for him to smash it next year and then watch him get drafted by someone else in 2020
Mitch will get picked up this year, he is too good

More than a year since his last game, Subiaco young gun Mitch Georgiades will finally get his chance to impress AFL recruiters when the national draft combine kicks off in Melbourne today.

The son of former Footscray and Subiaco forward John Georgiades missed all of this season because of a serious quad injury, sustained in last year’s AFL grand final curtain-raiser.

The athletic 191cm forward, who is tipped to go as high as top 30 in the national draft, was training with the Lions seniors and was in the mix for a league debut in the finals before ruling himself out.

“He’s travelling really well and probably could’ve played the last couple of finals games if it wasn’t at the end of the year,” WAFC state talent manager Adam Jones said.

“His training is going really well and we’re expecting him to test really well across the board.

“He’s been doing athletics at (Hale) school and he’s run a few good times, for his 100m he got an 11.36 (seconds).

“Subiaco were considering playing him in the league finals before Mitch made the call that it wasn’t a good idea after speaking with a few people close to him.”

Four of the 16-player WA contingent won’t be able to take part in the physical testing because of injury but still flew to Melbourne yesterday to have interviews with AFL clubs.

First-round draft fancies, WA captain and Larke medallist Deven Robertson (shoulder) and fellow under-18 All-Australian Liam Henry (knee), join Swan Districts pair Riley Garcia (knee) and Jake Pasini (shoulder) on the sidelines.

Henry, a Fremantle Next Generation Academy member, is set to resume running in the coming weeks after sustaining a dislocated knee cap playing for Christ Church Grammar School in August. Robertson has been on the track for the past few weeks.

West Perth’s Jaxon Prior, the son of ex-West Coast and Essendon player Michael, has recovered from a broken wrist which abruptly ended his season.

Jones expects big men Luke Jackson and Callum Jamieson to test well in the four-day event, with dashing wingman Jeremy Sharp and midfielder Chad Warner (both East Fremantle) also impressing with their running.

Jackson, likened to Collingwood’s Brodie Grundy, put up some ridiculous numbers for East Fremantle after returning from the national under-18s carnival, averaging 35 hit-outs and 21 disposals.

Jamieson was a massive contributor in the ruck in Claremont’s thrilling colts grand final win over Peel Thunder last month.

“Cal just finished his season with a really strong performance in the (colts) grand final,” Jones said.

“Luke’s flying with his running at the minute so I expect him to test the house down, he’s looking a million bucks.

“They’re both really good endurance runners for their size and hopefully that shows in the testing.”

All up, 79 draft hopefuls will attend this week’s combine.

WA national combine attendees
Claremont: Liam Henry, Callum Jamieson, Ronin O'Connor

East Fremantle: Jai Jackson, Luke Jackson, Trent Rivers, Trey Ruscoe, Jeremy Sharp, Chad Warner

Perth: Deven Robertson, Elijah Taylor

Subiaco: Mitch Georgiades

Swan Districts: Riley Garcia, Jake Pasini

West Perth: Ben Johnson, Jaxon Prior

Not likely - signed an extension during the year and his entire family has moved to the Gold Coast.
He might be a flanker that sticks...but is a flanker..
That’s good to know. Thought he would be prime go home material

Geez I reckon we can go deep next year. Just worry about scoring points at those key moments in the finals. We sometimes go flat at the worst possible time. Carn eagles

Robertson at the right price could be a handy inclusion. 24 atm and we don't have many win options. Also his versatility could add a lot to our midfield.

Robertson is in the Beau Waters mould a hard SOB ..

I think Freo are putting out feelers to him as well from my understanding

From what I have heard & read Pyke wants/needs a bit of time off and R&R after what was a mentally and emotionally draining experience at AFC. If he went to the dockers he would'nt get any time off. Apparently that means rejoining the Eagles sometime next year is a very real possibility.

He was a father son from wafl club that was part of our start up packages . GC and GWS didnt get that

Jesus you're still flying the flag for Fold Coast? :goldcoast: 🚽

Anyone got any info on our west aussie mids Rivers, Robertson and Sharp projecting in the 20's on the various phantom draft guides?

I'm assuming we'll be keeping pick 24. Geelong will want our 2019/20 first rounders as a minimum for TK. I've been looking for highlights for these blokes
Going by the Geelong board - on the AFL site it is stated Geelong want 3 picks under 30 for Kelly so if true on that basis we may lose 24 as well?

No, Geelong want to take 3 picks to the draft under 30. People need to stop misquoting (this isn't directed really at you)

It may mean 14 and 24 are what gets it done on their own and geelong are less interested in next years first round pick.

Kelly lured home with better picks, why tf would he care what gets the deal done? No mention of Kelly's contract status, but compares his situation to a contracted Shiel. Does the AFL site even bother editing what their staff clowns vomit out?

It won't be three picks, or even two 1st rounders, without something else (a 2nd) coming back our way.

Thought the same thing.

It's crap journalism.......again.

Shield under contract cost two 1sts with a 2nd going back.

But Kelly will take two top 10 picks

When did Journalism turn into social media driven opinionated garbage?

And if we go back further to the actual chat that was had It was a discussion about geelong looking to go to the draft with 3 picks under 30 with Kelly being traded. Just because articles then get written on the basis of bullshit that was misheard doesn't make it any truer.
