Luke Parker is not one I would be chasing on big money.
Not to big-note my opinion, but I played all my junior footy against him so have always watched him a little bit more closely.

He is a fantastic competitor. A great tackler. A good clearance mid. And good overhead for his size.

He is also very slow, and getting slower. He is also an average kick to put it lightly.

It was a shame that we didn't draft him when we could have. And he would've been perfect for what we needed.
But not now.
Our money is better spent elsewhere.

Just depends on our cap situation

I think he'd be a good addition if we have the money to spare. We're still not exactly flush for on-field leadership. Heppell... Merrett... it's already getting pretty bloody thin after those two.

No big name trades please.

Hewett or Ross as a FA
Jack Payne/Nathan Kreuger/Lewis Young as a young but mature bodied key defender
Maybe get Malcolm Rosas as a FA
Take our picks to the draft

Laverde gets 2 years witha 3rd year trigger, McBride, Clarke, Cahell, Cutler and Hird get one year.
Hooker, Ambrose, Zaharakis, Johnson, Mosquito and probably Gleeson get cut.

Leaves us with 3 open spots pending list changes
Jack Payne would harden the defence significantly. Not sure how tall though. Seems Laverde-ish...

I reckon Dodoro wants to trade our 1st this year. No idea who for but he itched his draft scratch last year I think.

I reckon he's more inclined to trade next years first.

Ben King would cost 3 first round picks if Cameron cost 3 first rounders

Given Cameron’s actual cost was one pick in the teens and the difference between 2 pick 15s and 2 pick 30s 2 good firsts is perfectly appropriate for King.

Geelong got Cameron for a song

Thought his 2nd half was good on the weekend too.
Yeah, I was watching him a fair bit when Swans games were on this year, given his name had come up here a fair bit this year. Might be a handy inclusion to our midfield. I always liked having Heath Hocking who was a hard nosed defending type mid. Gives good balance and Hewett is kind of like him.

I think (and hope) that we'll stop seeing those ridiculous asking prices for players.

I think he'll be looking to split our first into a late first and a 2022 2nd from somewhere else.

Seeing next year we have Davey twins and a few other F/S possibiities.

#11 for the Lions 18 and a 2022 2nd
I don't think there's a need to do that. There is no indication yet that the Davey twins will even go in the first round.

I don't think so we saw an average Tim Kelly go for 2 first rounders. I think he's good but not that good

I think will see more and more craziness

Surely given King has played in a below average team for his entire career, basically carried their forward line that if he does want to switch clubs that he'd move to one pushing for a flag? If he moves back to Vic I think any of the clubs mentioned (us being one) wouldn't have an issue finding the money but if it's between us and St Kilda I don't see why he would go to St Kilda apart from his brother being there.

Personally too, seeing how both Max and Ben play they both player similar in that they're are the number one forward in thaeir forward lines. I feel like it might work in the opposite way if he went to St Kilda and they'd both be fighting each others leads / want to kick goals. Just doesn't make sense for me, feels a little like St Kilda grasping at straws + just want to have them both in their team for the sake of it. Not to mention their list build still has a lot of gaps and questions about it. They've recruited for a push now, even then I don't think their recruitment has been to red hot.

Essendon seem like the most logical given we are crying out for a number one KPF to pair alongside Jones & Wright, who both don't play as the number one big man down there. Coming to Essendon too, he still is in Victoria and can still see/be around his family. Also, our list, build and growth in the next 3-4 years looks far more exciting and promising then St Kilda's, not to mention with the mudfielders that will be delivering him the ball in the likes of Merrett, McGrath, Parish, Stringer, Shiel, Caldwell + others etc once they all get more time to gel together.

So, is this basically the official start of the million posts ahead about how we are going to get Ben King. Going to be a long 13 months. Just don't start a separate thread on it like those Norf nuff nuffs with Kelly.

Well King is the obvious target; Gettable, out of contract and what we desperately need.
