I'm pretty sure that if compensation picks from another club are obtained via a trade, they have to be used in that year.
I am pretty sure they can be used at any time. I am not sure however whether it is tied to the club that traded him (which makes the most sense) or the club that receives the pick.

Yeah on sheer football attributes, Yarran is clearly ahead of the other two, but for some reason I just don't think he'd prosper at a Craig Lambert-less Brisbane.

Not sure if Voss could give him the love he needs.

He'll receive Lynch love at Brisbane. :)

Looks like the Brennan saga will continue for a while into trade week....

Carlton want #14 from the Crows for Jacobs and want to then pass that onto you for Brennan. Trying to outbid GC17's #15!

Will be interesting, as I know we are very keen to land Brennan.

WOW - So Jacobs is now valued the same as Brennan.

Why doesnt adelaide just offer pick 14 direct to Brisbane and get Brennan for themselves.

By the way for once you diodnt finish below the team you are trading with, so you cant squeeze them. - No deal sees Jacobs go in PSD to adelaide.

Best you will get is a 2nd rounder for Jacobs

Hey guys

Didn't watch a lot of Brisbane games this year and so I've been looking at some of Sherman's stats. Just wondering why he had such a poor year compared to last year.

On a side note, I also noticed he's only had 6 career brownlow votes which shocked me. Thought he might be a player who stands out.

Thanks

Carried a groin injury for much of the year.

On top of that, he is the ultimate confidence player... when he's up and about (2009) he's fantastic. But when he has a down patch, he struggles (2010)... having a hardass high performance manager in Collins pushing him probably didn't help either.

He is a frontrunner to put it plainly, but he does it very, very well. Playing for a team with a good midfield that can give him easy possessions ahead of the contest, he delivers outstanding run and carry. Will thrive at the Bulldogs or Saints.... not so much at Richmond.

Yep, my apologies. Emma Quayle confirmed that they can indeed be banked.

Sherman is a very inconsistent player like several players on the lions list. From my perspective will not be missed. Can't be a good team if players are inconsistent. Sherman and Brennan lead thew way, and are both out the door which will be a great result for the lions.

Brennan's manager was on SEN.

Said that Brennan wants to go to either Carlton or the Gold Coast.

Doesnt mind which one, and it is now up to the clubs to work out a sufficient deal..

Will be interesting to see how this now plays out.

Well that is certainly good for the Lions. It gives us the best chance of getting something decent although I still think a deal is already done and dusted.

Not sure....what do you know?

I think it will hinge on whether we can get pick#14 from the Crows in the Jacobs deal......

I am guessing Brisbane would accept that pick as a straight swap?

What are your thoughts on Brennan as solely HFF player? I think having him and Waite in the same forward line would pose opposition some pretty big match up headaches....

Thanks for that. I think he would make a good replacement for Eagleton.

One thing that maybe a hiccup of a deal going ahead with GC....Brennan & Walker have the same manager...Carlton will need to get a higher pick than their first round pick to entice the Lions..the proposal of.Adelaide pick 14.. I don't think is going to cut it... as GC can trump that with pick 11..

Depends on how desperate Carlton are in getting Brennan.

I am not pretending to have any inside knowledge on this one. It is pure gut and hence could be well off the mark. Just from the way things have panned out I have the impression that the Lions and GC have an agreement on Brennan. Could easily be well off the mark.

Pick 14 I expect to be around the mark. We would be hoping for more but we are not going to be screaming too much if that is what we end up with.

Brennan could play solely as a HFFer although I think you need him more as a midfielder. The big body in there is something you need and he is a good clearance player. I would expect him to play some HFF though although his goal scoring has dried up the last couple of years.

I hope we go after Brennan Stack- has a heap of pace, heap of ability, massive room for improvement. Could also cost us very little.

List clogger - absolutely petrified on the field. We have enough list cloggers from last years trade week.

Greg Denham is genuinely around the mark (its not as if it's some nuffy phoning in a rumour on SEN). To completely wipe the Clark is a touch wishful. Perhaps this is why the thread of a little animation at the combine yesterday amongst the Lions was noted.

Let's hope its not true. If true.......... conditions/morale at our club must be even lower than many of us had thought.

He will only go to WA because of his son. He does have a heap of talent but does not go anywhere near hard enough. Can't see him making it.

I'd be agreeable to taking Stack. Has his faults but he does offer a point of difference from the rest of our side with his pace. He copped a few injuries this year, I believe, so there might be room for improvement. The talk has always been that he wants to move back to Perth (as is apparently the case for anyone born west of the Nullabor!). Was rumoured to be looking for a trade last year too.

Brennan demands midfield role at new club

JARED Brennan's AFL career moved closer to the Gold Coast this week. "The Gold Coast are probably favourites, though Carlton looks like it is interested too," Brennan told the NT News yesterday.
Financial security for Brennan, his wife and two daughters was always at the forefront of any negotiations.
Brennan has also demanded a midfield role as opposed to key positions up forward or down back.
"The midfield is where I play my best footy and I beleive the best way I can contribute to a footy team," he said. "If they want a full forward, centre half-forward or even a ruckman I'm out of there."

A rumour going around this morning is that Brisbane will package off Brennan and pick 10 together for Picks 7 and 9 from the Gold Coast.

Greg Swann from Carlton says there's no hope to get Brennan and that he's very likely to go to the GC (from an article in the Australian).

What about Brennan + 10 for picks 7 and 15 (from the GC) or something similar.

Clearly some here have not learnt anything from last year. Whilst other clubs are going after our elite like Rich, Clark, Drummo, Brennan etc... our supposedly knowledgeable supporters are going after other clubs’ list cloggers. Way to go and build a premiership team. I suppose now that Sellwood's gone we need a few more that we can obsess and vent our spleen when we actually see them perform in Brisbane colours. AHHH how the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
