Lol, only way it involves our first is with 14 coming back.
Agreed.

Just can't see it, Hawks need the space.

We'll see Sam in WCE colors in 2018 nonetheless as a coach it seems.

Lol

Where are you gooses now that complain we do nothing.

Can't wait to see you shit your bed when you read this.
Sam Mitchell trade laughs in the face of those who think we've been laying dormant all trade period.

Boy this thread got turned on it's head quickly. Moaning bitches about perth etc will now have to shut up.
Ill be frank here, we still aint getting a Judd/Dangerfield/Ablett in their prime with 6-8 years left in their career. We are essentially Richmond 2009 that has picked up Ben Cousins. Takes one hamstring tear in round 1 for this to go massively pear shaped.

Soo, what are we going to give up for him, our 3rd rounder?

Anyone have an idea if what he's salary is at the Hawks? He must be on a fair whack if they're trying to get rid of him to relieve salary cap pressure. I'd assume West Coast will be paying the remainder of his salary...

Let's face it, we have a young trying to be dynamic coaching crew, which player toward the end of their career wouldn't want a slice of that if they are that way inclined. Unfortunately we are still not attractive to younger players. To some blokes age is just a number and their body allows them to still do stuff they were doing at 26/27, fortunately he is still playing excellent footy and injury free. Would be a great pickup even for a year (or 2 if he wants to keep going).

That could happen with any player of any age.

Long game.

This about Sam coaching.

Plus is we get his leadership and mongrel for the younger mids.

Must see the benefits. Hamstrings could happen to anyone.

and a lot more bloody likely with a 34 year old... Point is this aint a win like what Carlton got with Judd, like Gold Coast got with Ablett, like Geelong got with Dangerfield. We still dont have NicNat, so our premiership window is unfortunately not open any more than it was before.

On the one hand Sam Mitchell is a complete prick of a player.
On the other, that's exactly what we need.

Totally on board with this provided we don't sell the farm to bring him over.
If it comes to fruition, first thing I would do would be to tell Liam Duggan to follow him closer than Quinz follows Jennifer Lawrence on twitter.

Holy smokes.

The team that won the flag this year didn't have Nic Nat. We don't need him to win a flag.

A couple on the Hawthorn board asking for a direct swap for JD.

Masten has been put up for trade . So has Schofield Mckenzie and Brown . There have been no takers . Also Sam Mitchell has been talking to Simpson Hawthorn have offered him up .
As good as he is he only had 1 or 2 years at most left in him . I hope we dont waste our 2nd pick on him . Rather wait til next year then get him for nothing . Talks of him becoming a coach at West coast after he finishes
If we get a pick for either brown (free agency) or masten then on trade that to Hawks for Mitchell? I would consider that a win. Would effectively be masten/brown for Mitchell and I would do that any day of the week. We need some leadership through the middle and this is our chance to add some. He's pretty much a playing coach on the field anyway so moving him to a midfield coaching role afterwards would happen smoothly.

Agreed.

Also of note (mind you I'm only getting up to speed on the whole Mitchell thing) it sounds like we've been in his ear about coaching and it's Clarkson that suggested that he come over early and play a season or two.. so it's not like we've been masterminding a trade.. sounds like this is Clarko playing chess and playing it well. Would they be doing it if we had NicNat and were seen as a genuine threat in 2017? Would they do it if they didn't need all the cap space for the two young guns they want to bring in?

That being said I'm all for getting Mitchell at the right price. However let's not kid ourselves either.

The Hawks are more motivated to turf out Mitchell than we are to recruit him.

No they arent. Go listen to Mitch on SEN this morning.
I actually think it is all about what is best for Mitch and perhaps there is a win/win to be had for both clubs.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
If it does, you guys will need a new Hawk to boo :D

Hawks are looking at potentially having Hodge, Burgoyne, Gibson, Mitchell all retire at end of next year (i don't think they all will, but could occur if things went wrong at their age). If they can move Mitchell on and use his $'s to pay a younger player (Mitchell/JOM), then it lessens that risk.

They are an old team so they need to get younger. We're a youngish team so we can bring in an older player.

Win win.

It will be a player to GC to help us get O'Meara.
Sam is still our best player by a fair margin. He might help you win a flag in 17/18. Clarkson thinking very long term.

Never booed Mitch, some of his onfield antics (especially the Essendon thing) are hilarious. I think we just picked up on the Hodgey thing last year... harmless. One of our supporters even offered him a drink during the QF ;)
