Comparing injuries in the sports is fruitless as horrific ones can be found not only in these two codes, but in most others as well.

Starting a thread to see who from here is going IMO should be fine as it is aimed at fellow Port supporters.
To discuss the game/games in detail then this is probably not the appropriate board.

And yes I do follow both codes, although nowadays soccer is "only in passing". Games of interest, World Cups etc.

I only ever intended to post stuff here to see if anyone was going to the matches, not ever to discuss what happened. That, I agree, stays on the soccer board.

Too bad that some people don't like either subject here.

Im with Asgardian on this one.

raboyle Im sure you get the general idea on who goes to the soccer so why don't you just PM them?

If this is not feasible just post it on the AFL Board, at least by doing this you won't only attract Port and Crows supporters but others inside the state who follow other teams.

I guess you are a little worried that if you start a thread on the AFL Board it will just get shifted to the Soccer Board, I wonder why that would be?

BECAUSE ITS SOCCER!!!!!

Why don't I PM them.... maybe because there is more than a couple of people here on these boards that follow more than one team or sport in this state!

It shouldn't bloody matter because there is going to be f**k all else to talk about during the off-season. There's the key word--"OFF-SEASON".

Bloody hell. Fine... I'll keep this subject out of here. In fact better yet maybe the mods will erase this thread just to make you miserable lot feel better that nothing else can contaminate your precious board.

I'll keep it on the Crows board. At least they are more open-minded.

good, they compromise on everything else anyway

I see no reason why I should be apologetic for an unwillingness to allow one of the very few Port Adelaide centred boards, to be cluttered up with unrelated crap.

I see no reason why I should be apologetic for being bemused, in learning that other Port supporters, place other sports above Aussie Rules & our great club.

As a matter of fact, it's very rare I ever find anything to be apologetic about.....;)

BTW Raboyle, I entered this thread originally unaware that it was a soccer related thread, if I knew it was gonna be soccer, I would never have even entered, and you would never have heard from me.

Also BTW, I never went BIT-CHING to Porthos about this thread, I doubt anyone did, he probably just had a look coz he looks at most stuff in here.

And Ray, I saw too many "loyal" Port supporters hide & disassociate themselves from our club in 1990, to ever again feel empathy for fair weather supporters, who come on board when it's fashionable, or coz there's no other distraction in town.
If you are not one of these "fair weather" supporters, fine, but if you are, you have my enmity.

Surely after 2 or 3 threads you realise who is interested and who isnt interested and then wont need to start a new thread about each United match coming up?

Fair weather supporters?? WTF?!

I never came here because it was fashionable.

And what is the problem in coming here to this forum page when there is no football on at all and talking about something else in town?

NOTHING!!!

There is more to life than football... well, for some anyway. Ah well, I know at least a couple of people here who realise that.

I wasn't really aware of the 36ers/Crows thing.

But I thought the way forward for soccer in this country was for teams to stop associating themselves with minority groups.

The SANFL (which is your main following) might be finished but there is still plenty of life left in the AFL particularly with the draft coming up.

The 36er's and the Crows have that link due to the basketball game they play against each other for charity. Port do have a small connection with the 36er's but that is more to do with Mark Williams and Phil Smythe being good friends.

The only link I have found between United and the Power is that United used our training facilities after the first home game, apart from that its very Crows orientated.

To put your mind at rest, I have been a Port Adelaide FC supporter since 1984. My oldest memory is getting my 1st PAFC jumper when I was nearly 4 years old. After 1990 I stuck with the PAFC first and foremost, I didn't get to a lot of games (I lived at Seaford & my parents rarely took me to games) but I was still wearing my PAFC jumper in the schoolyard (and copping a bagging for it) when every other kid was wearing a Crows one. 92-94 I was overseas, but when I came back for the 95 season I got my first junior membership, and renewed it in 96. I have been a member every season we've been in the AFL, except for 2000 because I was so skint it wasn't funny (and it hurt even more not having it because we were losing) I'm also an PAFC/AFL Foundation Supporter (Premier Category) which I signed up for in 1996. Once my finances improved in 2002 I got a Season Ticket which I still hold today and plan to do so for a very long time, regardless of how PAFC are doing, or whether or not they are fashionable, because I love the PAFC. Soccer through all this time has been my favourite sport, but it has never diminished my support for PAFC. It's just that the sport the PAFC play is not my favourite. I hope that's 'loyal' enough for you ...

After the first game there were quotes from both Kosmina and Cunningham talking about sharing information etc etc

I think United used the Power's facilities for their recovery session also.

No links between United and the Crows from what I am aware of. SHaring the same colours means squat.

raboyle, see if you can try to set up a board for Adelaide United.
I for one would be interested to see how they do, and I am sure many others would. Just like with PA, you just don't get any news on them up here.

The soccer board is a bit like the main AFL board, in so far as having to sift through a lot of threads before you find one of interest. And that is being polite.

Perhaps Porthos can give you tips on how to go about setting one up.
If there is enough traffic, then perhaps it can become a permanent board.

Hmmm... good thinking, but where would it fit in?

I don't think it would work in any part of the forum. The only places it would work are in the main pages where heaps of traffic comes through.

If an AUFC page was made, the soccer board would probably in turn get overloaded with NSL club or English club pages because other members would demand them and there would not be enough room for all well, dozens of clubs.

So that is why I placed 'match day notice' posts on the Power and Crows boards. That is all I really wanted to do, just to get some die-hard Adelaide sporting fanatics to sit up and take notice.

Surely no-one has anything against letting people know what is going on around town by using whatever means is around.

A good idea nonetheless. :)

Perhaps a board for NSL only would do the trick.
