Isn't Jorginho the definition of good depth? He's a starting mid for Chelsea and will now be depth for us. Don't see what's cooked about him he has been a regular this season.

Chelsea are having their worst season in forever and they are happy to ship him off to a direct rival. If he was having a good season and was a key player this wouldnt be happening.

Have you seen the money they have spent lately? He’d be gone for free at the end of the season, might as well get something for him if you can.

He’s not a terrible player comparing the stats by any stretch.

Chelsea have played one extra match than Arsenal yet find themselves in tenth on the table and 21 points behind. At the moment they’re not currently a direct rival.

Not this season, that's true. But they are accumulating a huge squad of young talents and it will be only a matter of time before they begin challenging again.

They are doing what we did - targeting young talented players that will develop together - but they are doing it far more aggressively.

Mount (24), Cucurella (24), Chalobah (23), Reece (23), Havertz (23), Mudryk (22), W. Fofana (22), Badiashile (21), D. Fofana (20), Madueke (20), Colwill (19), Chukwuemeka (19), Gusto (19), Santos (18) + potentially Fernandez (21) and Caicedo (21) or Rice (24) come the end of the season.

Not everyone will make it of course, but they are clearly targeting a certain demographic of players. Look at us two seasons ago, it doesn't take too long to progress if they are developed properly.

Jorginho !! Amazed chelsea agreed to this .

It should never have got to this position in the first place. We've had multiple windows to address our midfield depth.

If we can ride out the season and our depth doesn't cost us the ultimate prize then it was a calculated risk. But if it does come back to haunt us then it will be pretty unforgivable.

If Jorginho is just called upon to play a role then so be it. But any midfield with him at the base isn't going to be defensively sound.

It's not like we haven't been addressing other areas in the those windows. Since we signed Partey three seasons ago in which time we have been one of the strongest teams in the league whenever we have been able to play both Partey and Xhaka together regardless of the system, we have signed a new player or promoted a youth player into 8/11 starting positions. We have also did buy a back up midfielder in the form of Lokongba who isn't ready to step in and may never be. We also are in all likelihood 12 months ahead of where we should be in our rebuild.

Chelsea had the strongest defence in the world for a period of time there when Tuchel was managing with Jorginho the key to their midfield.

Jorginho transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal has gone down very well among #AFC squad + staff. Feeling is the midfielder brings technical ability, tactical understanding, experience level ideal for title bid. #CFC happy with money so all win

He was going to leave on a free in six months time which is why they are selling him. As far as midfield depth goes it's hard to imagine getting much better. A proven top level premier league player.

Appears to be an ACL injury for Elneny, damn. In that respect, the club absolutely had to do some business and Jorginho is a very decent addition.

Lokonga needs minutes and to play regularly, no doubt. I just wonder though does it leave us a bit light in midfield given Elneny’s injury.

Lokonga, Cedric and Marquinhos all out on loan

The elneny injury does make the lokonga loan a bit risky but he needs to play as he just hasn’t come on at arsenal in 1 and a half years at all really, had plenty of opportunities to show something and just hasn’t, on the verge of being sold, see how he goes at palace and reassess I guess.

If if if.

Man for **** sake, cut out the negativity. All you do is ****ing whinge. Every. Single. Day. Every. Single. Post.

We are top of the league, and we have brought in an experienced body, added depth, a winner, knows the league. The way you're carrying on - like a complete nuff - you would think we are in the relegation zone.

Not sure what I think of Jorginho in. We needed cover, he provides that. Short contract, which is great, but a bit more expensive transfer than I’d have liked.

Still, if Partey does an ACL tomorrow, it’ll look like genius business. Just gonna trust Mikel on this one.

12 million is clearly not a make or break sum for them, have you seen the money they have been throwing around?

That's the positive, Arteta has tried to sign him a few times now and is clearly an admirer of his abilities.

What I DO want to see from this transfer period is the lesson learned regarding leaving business too late. The rules prevent you from tapping up a player, from making a formal offer to a player and to a club. They do not prevent two clubs from informally discussing the terms of business that they know both are willing to participate in, which can then be formally offered and agreed upon when a transfer window opens.

Mudryk should have been done before the window even opened. Never seen a guy twerk for a club so much. While I like what I've seen from Trossard so far, Mudryk is a future Ballon D'or calibre player. Sure, potential is never a certainty, but he looks the goods early on.

We knew we needed DM cover. Everyone here did. Every Arsenal fan everywhere did. Although we don't know from the outside, it looks for all the world like we didn't even start on the Caicedo transfer until late in the window. Surely a club the size of Arsenal has the staffing levels to be able to negotiate and manage more than one transfer at once?

In the end, the period has not been a failure. We got the cover we needed, and if we can take 10-12 points from the next 15, everyone's title hopes will take another step forward. But there are certainly some lessons to be learned from this transfer period.

No marquee signing in Jan which is a little frustrating.

But at least we've added

Depth on the Wing
A better 3rd choice CM
backup for Gabriel at CB.

None if it should hinder our summer window, which I hope to see us add a marquee CM and hopefully another quality winger.
