Autopsy v Essendon

Was impressed by Post too, he's looked like a different man over these later rounds, much harder at the ball and isn't afraid to get involved in a contest. Finding plenty of it too, and his disposal, apart from a few helicopter handballs, has been good. Will be interesting to see how he performs next week.

those shit handballs are what gets us into deep trouble, i dont want him at this club im sure plenty others see his disposal as a liability, except for madtiger because he's just made up his mind that post is a gun from the moment he was mentioned as a richo. he is nowhere near richo level and never will.

Also it was good to see Rance playing on a smaller lead up forward like Crameri. Thought he towelled him up. I think is Dimmas plan when Chaplin, Grimes and Griffiths are all in the side, to have Rance following players like him up the ground and providing rebound up there, he won't have to be a stopper so much as a running defender.

Rance wasn't great, if Crameri had kicked 5 goals instead of points he'd be in trouble but he didn't it's better to not give those opportunities.

Hey guys good win tonight, despite the poor kicking at goal, although it was very windy.

Took the missus to her first game tonight, and she got her scarf signed by the two Richmond boys outside gate 4 near the Tigers jeep.

Just wondering if anyone can let me know who they are. I thought one may have been Matty Arnot, but was hoping someone can tell me for sure.

Cheers.
Arnott and Ben Griffiths

It wasn't a good win Ron. It was nothing that a NAB cup game wouldn't be. Means nothing for next year.

How do I know? Easy test. If it had meant anything we would not have won.

It means that three bombers plus the club cat will turn up for their game against you.

Any win against the Bombers is a good win. Be happy you were the club that finally killed their finals chances after they were 8-1.
Whilst you wont be in the finals yourself, finishing 11-11 and ending the Bombers season isn't the worst result.

One was Arnot and the other should have been big benny Griffiths

Cheers mate

Fair enough, I disagree.

Watched the replay, think it was the complete opposite of last week, not once did I think we were going to lose after about 5 minutes in.

David Astbury - Good start, probably got beaten but no complaints
Jake Batchelor - Missed having Batch in the team so much, he was so strong in defence last night and pushing up the ground, one of the best on ground imo
Trent Cotchin - Played well but not great disposal, would have kicked 2-3 if it wasn't for the wind, should have kicked 1-4 at least for a better rating
Matt Dea - Missed Dea as much as Batch, these two add some really solid defence to our back line, not as good as Batch but will get there
Brett Deledio - Played his role very well, finds and makes space so easily, I should be rating him higher but I always feel he can do better even though he already did so well
Shane Edwards - Angry at you Mr Edwards, contributed well then you go and hit a player in the face and will probably miss round 1, what were you thinking?
Shaun Grigg - Solid, just didn't need his wide running as much which is where he shines
Bradley Helbig - Has a brilliant hand pass, played really well, think having Batchelor and Dea around him helped a lot
Bachar Houli - A very good game, one of his best
Daniel Jackson - I like Jackson in the tagging role a lot (when he's not giving away free's), wish I could have given him points for it
Ivan Maric - Got beaten in the Ruck but was Tuck-like around the ground, would have been top 5 if he had more hit outs
Dustin Martin - So strong all day, very few mistakes, makes space when there is none, precision passing, wet pants
Luke McGuane - Not great, not bad, bumped Jack off a few marking contests which annoys me but slotted a few which is his job, just don't care about him
Steven Morris - Damn our defence was really good tonight, Morris deserves something for his contributions
Robin Nahas - Think we saw the deficiency in Nahas' game in the lack of a big body, just got knocked off the contest too much, but played his role
Chris Newman - Again does so well when he can move up the ground, deserves a cuddle
Brett O'Hanlon - Like what I see from BrettO, looking forward to him actually getting to a full game one day
Jayden Post - Strong marks, strong in contests, good positioning, poor disposal, all I can really say
Alex Rance - Dominated.
Jack Riewoldt - Unselfish game. Probably his best this month IMO. Wind and McGuane let him down from kicking more but should have anyway, hence why I didn't give him points
Shane Tuck - Think he went a bit quiet towards the end to let Cotchin get the points. Was a brick wall, only complaint is he doesn't need to bomb it -every- time
Matthew White - Was looking iffy but ok at the start, thought his time at the club was over when he got subbed off, not sure if I should feel sorry or happy that it was only a hammy

Overall: Inclusions of Batch and Dea make our defence so much stronger, think we should have won by a lot more in that fourth quarter since they had so few players on their rotation. Wind sucked, not having the game mean anything sucked, seeing the potential we have for next year as depth with some of the guys we have coming back is mouth watering. Wish I could be there for the last game, going to be huge.

Nope you saw what you and everyone else saw, well except for Umpire Nicholls who also pinged Jackson for 50, gave a free against Edwards for abuse and then reported Edwards. Everytime him and Mollison(32) umpire us we get hammered with bewildering decisions.
Yep. Mollison must be an Essendon supporter the way he arse-****ed us in Dreamtime.

Dea and Batch were very good last night.
Astbury will be a player. I know people can't see it yet, but he will be ok.
Is Maric the best recruit this club has aquired?

Houli is so ****ing dangerous through the middle, shoulda awarded him points but everyone was saying he was soft, he wasnt. Being scrutinized for nothing, he's just smart.
Was massive last night. When he is on, he is so damaging. Very smart footballer. Still Ramadan too, so it makes his effort even more remarkable. Love ya Bach!

He looks to have some footy smarts, and size. He also looks very slow. Do you think this is primarily a lingering after effect of his injury, and with a good pre-season will pick some pace up? Might look up his pre-draft stat's for sprint times etc to see if he's just never been particularly quick.

Have to say, yes!

And dont forget the deliberate out of bounds paid against both Rance and Dea?!?!...

Spare me days...its about time you maggots fronted a review panel to explain your decisions...

When your a protected species lke these umpires are...no wonder they can get away with crap!...all care and no responsibility...

Jack is not quick either. I just think he is a smart player and will be ok. Just a hunch. Before he hurt his knee, he took a massive pack mark at a crucnh time against Freo and goaled. This was when Freo was really challenging. He did the same last night.
Baby steps with Dave. He will get there.

I thought those were both there. But the 50m against Jackson which gifted Browne a goal was inept.

I read through the game day thread late last night and it's an absolute disgrace. We ended all hopes of Essendon making the finals, beat them by 45 while completely dominating all but about 10 minutes of the game and made thousands of whining Verucas lose their shit. We had very little to play for and didn't have a great game, but i can't see how anyone could be at all upset with that result.

i heard him say after the game that ramadan was over last week...

just for laughs

Really...if thats the case...there's no such thing as deliberate(overt) in footy any more...its intentional(covert)...

No footballer these days deliberately puts the ball out of bounds...they all know the rules...

So players have to disguise their actions covertly...and the umpires/maggots/Geischen are now ruling on the players intention...

In effect...reading the players mind...i call that a nonsense...

So if any play/contest in football is killed by a player ie stops the play/contest...its now for all intents and purposes...a free...excluding marks...

The only anomally being the rushed behind...which is paid a point...

And if thats the case it will only be a matter of time before even that action is ruled a free as well...

They stuffed around with the hands in the back rule...and it backfired on them...now they are stuffing around with the out of bounds rule...

Talk about a closed shop rules commitee...got to love these behind closed doors rule changes...

I tell you what...

How about we have potential rule changes discussed in an open Public forum before they are introduced and then trial them in the pre season cup to judge their effectiveness...

Or is that too deliberate an action for the maggotry to turn a blind eye to...

18 disposals at 78%Eff, if thats shocking I'd hate to see what you think of Cotchins 31 disposals at 52%Eff.
Only further illustrates why relying on stats for most part is a load of old cobblers. Do they count fumbles and overunning the ball as disposals now? Who had the bigger impact in attack?

Jak, i am not saying i agree with the current interpretation of the deliberate rule. I don't.
But under the way the umpires are currently interpreting it, theywere there. Watching from level 2 last night, it gives you a good view of it.
The interpretation sucks, but under the current interpretation, the decisions were correct.

For the last three quarters he was, was at his panicky worst in the first. Same could be said for a few though. We were lucky The Bummers were even worse in the opening quarter. Looked like Coburg v Frankston.

Disagree. Bach was a four-quarter player. Each to their own though mate.
