Agree Bernards could surprise a few next season.
Any news on Burbury at Collegians? With Old Geelong progressing up to B Grade next season any chance of him moving back?

He wants to play at the highest level, so unless they can get to A any time soon, there's no chance.

If that is where you are placing Bernard's, you might want to rethink that after yesterday's display.

A "boomer" coach.....When was the last time he a won a final game when at De La if at all???

Judging a coach on his win loss ratio is grossly unfair. Great players tend to make great coaches and it really depends on the cattle at your disposal. Greg Hutchinson’s efforts with what he had available at OB was an absolute stand out for mine but he didn’t win a final either.

Satterley had bugger all at his disposal compared to some other clubs. His first year he inherited a list that was mid ‘B’ grade quality at best and kept them in A grade which in my view was his finest achievement. It is a much tougher gig coaching DLS, STBMT and even Old Brighton then it is coaching Collegians, SKOBs and Uni Blues with all that elite talent at the coach’s disposal.

No question this year was disappointing but ultimately the difference between 2017 and 2018 was an inability to win close games. Still managed to roll the premiers and get within a kick of the 3 others who played finals which suggests he goes ok. With better resources, depth, networks and overall talent now at his disposal I expect he will do well.

No doubt, the better the list, the more the Coach has to work with. Coaching is more than just what happens on the oval any given saturday. A Coach these days has to spread his talents across the entire Football dept. Recruiting being at the top of the tree. Followed closely by being a Physco Analyst to any young or old footballers who may need direction....and thats just for starters...Having said that he should win more games in 19 than he did in 18. If not, he will get the "arse" quick smart....

Judging a coach by his win/loss record is the only way a coach can be judged I would have thought? Or am I missing something?

How’s your outspoken President going? Who will replace him? I’ve never listened to a more boorish person on that VAFA Podcast, the bloke thinks he’s never been wrong.
