Kennedy's legacy IS Hawthorn. Every time any of you cursed the ruthlessness, professionalism or success of the Hawks it's because of that man. He built it as captain and fortified it as coach. I would never seek to diminish the role played by others through the decades but John Kennedy is the mightiest figure at our club. That is why he is now a football Legend.

The words like legend or great are overused but John Kennedy Snr deserves to be seen as a legend. When he arrived at the Hawthorn Mayblooms they were a joke of a club yet he and others made the decision to fix it and today Hawthorn has the best club culture and that is Kennedy's legacy.
