Alright we all knew he was a) god like and b) incredibly hard at it but in the last two weeks VB has finally learned the skill of being a ball magnet and i felt particularly stepped up tonight in the absence of Goody. If he can keep this up there is very little to fear when the old midfield dynasty retires as Radar, Thommo, Knighta and VB are more then capable of taking their place:):thumbsu:

Another thing worth noting with the Great one is that his footskills have improved out of sight. His delivery to the forwards tonight was nothing short of magnificent and he hits their chests at full pace 9 out of 10 times.

We always knew he has the courage to play 200 games but from what i've seen the last two weeks he definitley has the potential to become AA.

His foot skills really are quite impeccable at times. He has the ability to pull off perfect stab passes which some players just can’t do. What about that pass to McGregor or Bock in the first quarter? Wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve come away with a bruise. :p

So 24 possessions last week and 25 tonight, his career high. He also had 8 contested possessions, and some of those handballs in close were great. That handball to McGregor which resulted in his great bouncing goal was superb, as was that one to Doughty near the boundary line in the last term.

He really is a top midfield prospect. He didn’t play the last 10 or so minutes though, I’m assuming he’s alright?

I must have missed that. What did he say?

I'm very impressed with Van Berlo

Good Point. His kicking was a weakness when he 1st came into the team, but he obviously has worked hard on it to the extent he is now one of the better kickers in the team. He absolutely drills passes.

I don't think his actual kicking mechanics were ever a problem. He was always a great kick. What people think was a dodgy disposal was more him panicking and kicking under percieved pressure. He didn't handle the pace of the game all that well at the beggining but once he became more comfortable with the pace and intensity of the game, his kicking efficiency got much better.

He now know exactly how much time he has and doesn't panic and rush it like he did in his early days. The great one was always a good kick of the footy.

Was very impressed by his ability to break tackles tonight.

I can't recall VB being able to drill a pass when he 1st came into the team. I reckon he has really improved his kicking out of sight.

He killed them in the first half. It's been a while since we've had a third year player whom the opposition have felt the need to put their best tagger on.
Gun.

Although his use of the ball might not have been great today, I thought he played another very solid game. At the game you really see how hard he runs. He just flat out sprints all over the ground to make an option. He works harder than just about anyone on the ground. 25 possessions again today. :thumbsu:
