I thought he was our best player in 2015 and should've won the Copeland.
I have been a supporter of his recruitment from day 1, and he did well last year, but calls such as these are outrageous, egregious and preposterous!

I thought he'd do a lot better in the BnF than he did.
I have never heard anything about him being VFL bound though...

Is this based on some 'Best 22s" people have been putting together I missed?

(yawn)

Can't we change the title to something less stupid like .... "what colour boots will Varcoe wear against the Cats?

It's probably not a coincidence that the OP has dropped this load of rubbish here and then disappeared. He's often seen making this sort of post at 3 or so in the morning.

He at least included a nice picture of Varcoe so the post/thread isn't totally without merit!

Knightmare was one that saw him fading out of the team in 2016. There were others in the thread that agreed also.

Knightmare, TG has pointed the finger at you, so can we blame you for this thread?:)

I don't believe Varcoe should be an automatic selection.

Only Pendlebury, Swan, Cloke, Sidebottom, Treloar, Elliott and Williams are automatic selections going into the season for me along with Reid if healthy.

Varcoe last year was terrific. Whether he maintains his position in the clubs best 22 depends on form. If he maintains that level of tackling and pressuring then he'll be safe. But there are much better rounded young players developing (Varcoe is not a contested ball winner or a high volume accumulator, prefers to kick it short, seldom breaks the lines and offers only mild scoreboard impact), so I'd have no issue with a younger alternative taking his place if they perform more strongly and earn the position ahead of Varcoe, but that's the if and will remain an if until we see it.

With Varcoe there is the element of, he hasn't produced consistently throughout his career so who is to say that he will have a strong season again this coming season? So it's a wait and see situation.
