See!! Like you have so succinctly put, there is mucho benefits in living in a place that only has to look after a fifth of the populace as one of your bigger eastern brothers.

Thank God indeed, just don't expect him to afford you anymore relevance to the wider public and be happy in that little ignorant bubble, enjoy!

Will do thanks...... hope you enjoy paying off all that debt and having Jacinta (LOL).

The trend looks so positive for you:

Victorians are like frogs in a slow boiling saucepan (by the time they get it, it's too late):

So you're from SA... But decided to leave that state off the chart you posted?

Pretty reasonable that people would assume you're from WA don't you think?

All good though... You guys keep frothing about LIV golf and we'll hold onto the GP, Australian Open, Moto GP etc. etc.
I didn't post a chart, nor am i a state first neanderthal.

This week has been good example of how biased vic media is.

How many times has each club had a game where they’ve got the rough end of umpiring and it gets ignored ?

Or at best it gets analysed for a day and then forgotten.

It’s 4 days later and the Victorian shows are still whinging about how hard by Collingwood were.

Of course it's biased. Victoria is their biggest market. That's how it goes. It's nowhere near as biased as the SA footy media where SA is virtually their only market.

The problem is that its supposed to be a national media.

I dont care what the Age does or the H/sun but when its a national footy show there should be an appearance of equality

It gets broadcast nationally, but Victoria is it's biggest market and thus it gets the most coverage. I don't know how you can expect that to change. It's like expecting the city of Newcastle to receive as much coverage in the News as the city of Sydney. Or expecting Norwood footy club to receive as much coverage as Port.

Complaints about the broadcasters impact on fixturing are legit. But media targetting the bigger market? What can you do to change that?

Agreed they're commercial businesses, they can do what they want.

About the only realistic thing the AFL could do is what they've already done - establish their own media arm and use it to give equal coverage to 18 teams. Even that little enterprise tends to gravitate a bit towards the big Vic teams to get more clicks, but at least it is more likely to cover the newer/smaller clubs in depth than commerical media is

You don't know how fairness works? You can cover Victoria more and not be biased towards Victorian opinions and viewpoints.

It wasn't being discussed whether the viewpoint presented was biased. All that was being discussed was the amount of coverage it got. It got more because it was Collingwood - we get more coverage than other teams because we generate the most viewers - and that's both Non-Vic and the smaller Vic teams. Sometimes that's good for Collingwood. Sometimes that bad for Collingwood. Either way the AFL has zero control over it.

Pretty sure the post referred to the ongoing whinging about the quality of the umpiring in the Collingwood game, which is an opinion. It wasn't about player availability, ladder permutations etc.

Works the same in Wa and Sa, last week it was the 'Unfair on Rankine' bias thing (from one of their 5aa footy talking heads) and in Wa, which I don't listen to I'm sure there's definitely bias the same way, I'm sure there's been seething bias about how poorly umpired, treated, whatever Harley Ried has been from the talking heads over here too.

Not sure how it's 'vicbias', unless vicbias is the outcome of having more footy fans and population.

We know who your talking about and believe me, he is an absolute embarrassing bell end.

Same with vic media, they're not reflective of the vic footy public.

That's why this whole argument about vic media bias is just lazy crying. All the states media have their own barracking, not just vic

Vic bias my arse

umpiring at edihad or mcg is nothing like what teams cop when they go interstate.

Adelaide Oval or back in the day Perth etc

Watch Collingwood v Adelaide or Suns v Port at Adelaide Oval last 2 weeks if you still don´t get it.

Interesting stat here.

NO Docklands tenant has finished in the top 4 since GWS entered the league and it expanded to 18 teams. Literally 15 years where Carlton, , Essendon, North, Bulldogs and St Kilda have been basically shut out. Bulldogs had two amazing runs to the GF from outside the top 4, which is pretty incredible in hindsight. Carlton made a prelim but stalled playing away in Brisbane. That's basically it.

In that time span ALL of the MCG tenants have won a premiership. Of the non Melbourne teams all have made a GF except Port and GC, and Port have twice lost home prelim finals.

Maybe this thread should be about the clear systematic bias faced by Docklands teams?

That's not a Vic bias thing, it's a Collingwood thing. They're used to getting the rub of the green. Their game plan's revolved around it for years.
Richmond, on the other hand, gets reamed week in, week out since 2017. Never a word mentioned. On the one occasion it did come up in the media a couple of years ago, eg Richmonds odds of having umpiring decisions going against it as consistently and over many years, compared to pure chance were something like several 100 million to 1. The commentary seemed to get shut down within 24 hours.

Media that doesn't strictly follow the AFL agenda, gets de-endorsed.
