Except they go very quiet when the other side starts making a move and talking about “what the Hawks/Cats/Pies need to do to win”Biased or talking positive about the team that’s actually playing well?

Nothing to do with the results necessarily but it’s the reason why everything - tribunal, umpiring potentially etc are so sh*t because they’re playing to the viewershipProblem?
Crows, as an inexperienced finals team, lose to Collingwood (with finals experience and recent GF experience). Nothing new here. Happens all the time.
GWS, gamble with players returning from injury, suffer in game injuries, are gallant, but ultimately beaten by a better, healthier, team. Nothing new again.
Cats, with a healthy list, defeat an injured depleted Brisbane. Again nothing we haven't seen before.
Unfortunately, you see every Vic team win as a conspiracy.
Yeah, and when the Umps put the whistle away GWS kicked 7 goals. Not kicking a goal in the first 10 minutes when the ball was camped in GWS F50.
Toby Greene missing an important goal in Q4.
Dylan Moore and Blake Hardwick going into beast mode in Q4 when they were well held in the first 3.
Problem with the league right here. Commentary from all 3 games so far has been very one sided and a big reason why threads like this exist

I could say the same to youOr youre so used to the "normal" coverage that anything else seems like barracking the other way
Yeah, and when the Umps put the whistle away GWS kicked 7 goals.
That can all be true.
And I lived in Melbourne for 6 years and worked around Australia and overseas, and Victorians as a group are as biased and entitled as any supporter base I’ve encountered.I live in Adelaide and have lived on the Gold Coast for 5 years, I also grew up in a town with 9 other teams.
I’d suggest it’s the people who have only had it their way, or the other way, are the ones who have no idea about what “normal” is

Yeah wholeheartedly disagree mate, I tend to enjoy watching the footy every weekend though, so maybe I’m doing it wrong! And I lived in Melbourne for 6 years and worked around Australia and overseas, and Victorians as a group are as biased and entitled as any supporter base I’ve encountered.
It’s not the local interpretation or bias that I care about. I listen to 5AA like Geelong listen to KRock.Yeah wholeheartedly disagree mate, I tend to enjoy watching the footy every weekend though, so maybe I’m doing it wrong!
Wasn’t a duck measuring contest either, more a point of reference. Thinking a whole group of people are unable to think the way, you do, based on locality, is also a little strange. Might be another word for it.
But the Hawks didnt get unwarranted frees by playing for them, it was that GWS didnt get anything forward of 50 when there were shitloads that should have been paid.My view of the umpiring so far:
Adel v Coll - outstandingly umpired.
Geel v Bris - absurdity in Brisbane's favour
GWS v Haw - advantage Hawks - but it always does as they play for frees a heap more than any other team in the comp.
Haha entitled is the perfect word for it.Entitled?
Exploited more like it
Mate if you’ve been around as much as you have surely you understand that these people, are in the end, just normal people. It’s not the local interpretation or bias that I care about. I listen to 5AA like Geelong listen to KRock.
It’s the competition national broadcasters that are the issue. They should be unbiased, but clearly aren’t.
I know you don’t accept that and that’s ok, but one day you’ll hear the broadcaster yell ”Oh No” when you’re team might hit the lead in a final, and you’ll understand. But we all know that won’t happen.
And yeah it probably won’t and I do accept that lol. It’s not the local interpretation or bias that I care about. I listen to 5AA like Geelong listen to KRock.

You’re not exploited when you’re the ones running the comp for your benefit.
Um, do you actually know what the word means? Seriously.Round 0 - to grow the game in Northern states....exploited
Gather Round....exploited
Channel 7 spent most of the game today talking about what GWS needed to doExcept they go very quiet when the other side starts making a move and talking about “what the Hawks/Cats/Pies need to do to win”
YepCollingwood undoubtedly have the best fixture for tv viewership and thus growing the club.
People don't bother to do any critical thinking. But in terms of winning games of footy, I've got no idea how anyone can be adamant that Collingwood's fixture is more favourable with a heap of neutral games and an equal number of genuine advantage and disadvantage games, where with the advantage games our opponent is far more familiar with playing in the city and the venue than we are when playing interstate.
Most people ignore results and prefer to just run with beliefs...SA fans "believe" they are hard done by, so that is enough and that is trumpeted by their own biased media heads and so they all nod along about how hard they have it.I've also got no idea why people would ignore the reality that the Adelaide teams lose so many home finals - suggesting that their ladder position often flatters how good they are.
I think it applies to non Melbourne teams. I heard a crazy stat the other day that Geelong has not won a single final at it's home ground.Non-Vic teams don't seem able to handle the pressure of playing in front of their home crowd. Good thing for them that the Granny is at the MCG.
I've worked it out.Non-Vic teams don't seem able to handle the pressure of playing in front of their home crowd. Good thing for them that the Granny is at the MCG.

This isn't a single season point sharky.
25 seasons of the 21st century, after AFL completed ground rationalisation in Melbourne.
The 8 Melbourne based sides have finished top 2 on the H&A ladder a combined 13 times. When they finish top 2, 11 of the 13 times the Melbourne based team have made the GF.
The 2 SA teams have finished top 2 on the H&A ladder a combined 12 times. When they finish top 2, 9 times they have lost home finals and failed to make the GF on 8 (wait and see if Adelaide in 2025 will make it 9 of 12.)
A strong home ground advantage and reduced away disadvantage is what the SA teams enjoy during H&A every year. It helps them finish higher on the H&A than they should, and then they get found out in finals.
7 want every game they broadcast to be close so the viewers don't switch off. I've heard BT say this, so no surprise it permeates into the commentary.Channel 7 spent most of the game today talking about what GWS needed to do
