5. Maric. Might have had a few sloppy handballs but gave it his all. Career high 18 possessions, 9 marks and a goal. Arguably his best game for the club, certainly his best work around the ground and there's no doubt he's our #1 ruckman.

4. Mackay. Although he had 12 possessions to half time he wasn't having the impact we knew he could however after half time he started to turn it on. 26 possessions, most of which were really creative and came after runs down the outer wing. Such a slick mover, needs to realise just how good he can be.

3. Burton. Easily our most dangerous forward today, looked to shake off the rust from last week. Jumped well, led well and was the hardest player for Melbourne to match up on.

2. Douglas. His best game in ages, for once he didn't look rushed and he used his pace to break free of opponents. Tackled well, disposed of the ball well, had numerous inside 50's and would've been higher on the list if he didn't run out of gas.

1. Schmidt. Excellent AFC debut! 20 possessions, 9 marks, looked very calm and composed in defence and disposal was very sharp. Loved his performance today and he's certainly got a place in this side, even when we're full strength.

BTM:

3. Maric. Gave it his all, flew the flag for Dangerfield.

2. Petrenko. A heap of contested possessions, great attack on the man and ball.

1. Reilly. Like Petrenko, great commitment, doing everything that could be asked of him.

ROTY:

3. Schmidt. Great club debut, looked right at home, that'll shut the knockers up.

2. Petrenko. Assuming he's still eligible (if not, Cook 2, no one 1)... Outstanding effort today, a real workhorse and one of the few who can tackle.

1. Cook. Starting to gain confidence at this level, backed his pace more than he has in previous rounds and did well to slot his first AFL goal.
