Toast Brad Lloyd - Head of Football

I'm not sure the stats you would have found in The Truth had any relevance to football.

Page 3 told me we kicked 36.24 ... err 36. I might have misread that.

Is this actually a good appointment?

11 years as Freo's list manager...their list in that time has been OK, but certainly nothing amazing.

Also he is now head of football and obviously he has no experience in that role. What does he know of improving our fitness/medical departments?

Cannot answer that but it looks a gamble. Hope he pays off and time will tell. Good question though Ftr.

Built a list that challenged for a flag multiple years in a row and then helped set up a ‘silent’ rebuild that has seen them bottom out without going into the bottom 4. He’s done a good job as list manager over there and he doesn’t need expertise in those areas as a manager. As a manager he needs to be able to assess the effectiveness of those areas, using reviewers, reports and any other means he deems necessary to then decide whether something needs changing. He doesn’t need to know any of the technical goings on of those specialised skills to run a footy department successfully.

J. Brown on OTC last night suggested Brad Lloyd had not done much good in his time as List Manager at Freo.

Will be interesting to see how he goes in his new role at Carlton.

To quote someone from Twitter:-

What a stupid man Brown is. If he couldn’t play football, he’d be driving an unroadworthy car in Warrnambool over .05

When he was playing he was a brilliant player.
I'd take Pavlich, Tredrea and N. Riewoldt over him. They were a lot more consistent.

A few dominant seasons after being hot and cold and suddenly he was put in the same level as Carey. The hype was ridiculous. He's no where near Carey.

Not near Carey I agree. He was way more influential than the others and his presence made others around him walk taller, so cannot agree there.

More influential? That's arguable. For example, Pavlich was Freo's greatest ever player. He pretty much carried them throughout his entire career, whether it be up forward or further down the field. Brown in contrast, wasn't even the Lions' best ever player. If you watch Brisbane's 3-peat, all the damage was done by their "big 4" and Lynch was much more influential than Brown.

They were all good players and It really depends on who you rate(horses for courses) there is no wrong answer. I would love any of the key forwards you mentioned. I would take Brown over Lynch in a heartbeat imo.

I have a feeling Chuck will be better than either.
