I'm not worried about who gets the 3. I'm just pointing out that that Simpson got a bit of ball and nearly half of them were contested and it is easy to get dazzled by large numbers, but at the same time, blinded by a so-so team performance like Carlton's and overlook their players individually accordingly.

GWS have some young gun mids who are playing a harassing contested game because that is all they have at the moment. Their tackling pressure and enthusiasm is impressive. Not surprising that the pacy Simpson so used to doing what he wants on the outside had to play a different game with less room to move against the Giants.

Simpson was really only any good in the last quarter vs GWS.

However, that was a pretty good quarter.

Simpson had nearly half his possessions in the last quarter.Only started to play well when the team got going. At least he finished strong which is more then what can be said for Wells, the elite midfielder.

From where I sat, the team got going because Simpson started playing well. He was a class above anybody else on the ground and got the ball moving out of the middle.

Muffasa and Old Skool bit quiet this week. I Guess we should expect them back when Stants has a bad game and Wells has a good one? Sure were vocal after Anzac day.

yeah it sure is a weird coincidence that they only find time for this thread when Stanton is bad and Wells good

I thought Stanton had the 1 vote in the bag, but Wells had only 13 touches, 3 contested, more than half handpasses, 0 goals and two tackles. Subbed off against GC.

Stanton had 13, four contested, all kicks, 6 tackles, and a goal that could have won the game. Against Collingwood.

I think I might have to give the 1 to Wells!

3. Simpson. Great performance and run against Fremantle. Key link player on the ground. Easy for three this week.
2. Stanton.
1. Wells.

2012 tally

B.Stanton 12 (3x3, 1x2, 1x1)
K.Simpson 11 (4x2, 1x3)
D.Wells 7 (4x1, 1x3)

Round 6.

3. Stanton. BOG
2. Simpson. Not great, stood up when he needed to.
1. Wells. Ok, but could have done more.

2012 tally

B.Stanton 15
K.Simpson 13
D.Wells 8

put a line through Wells this week. Terrible performance.

Completely nullified Griffens effectiveness when he went on to him after half time.

A good game.

Why would the waste his amazing skills by making him tag someone?

We don't have too many options that can run with Griffen.

Griffen: 11 inside 50's in the first half, 1 inside 50 in the second half.

If Wellsy had started on him we would have won.

If Brissy didn't dominate the second half of the 2001 Grand Final Essendon would have won.

Couldn't give a toss.

Wells was good and as far as this thread is concerned that's what really matters.

He's a class above Stanton or Simpson.

Wells is inconsistent, he will pull out a ripper game and go missing for the next 3 rounds, Simpson and Stanton have ripper games and are both consistent.

Wells's best is better than Stantons or Simpsons consistent.

Besides, I would hardly call Essendons perenial whipping boy cum darling of the moment a career long consistent footballer.
