What are your New Years Eve plans?

Seen way too many CDEs (calendar driven events) to give a toss about any of them except the boxing day test.

Will do nothing, and then scream at the clouds (assuming there are any) if I hear any fireworks - or at the neighbours if they have anything happening.
Being a cantankerous old bastard is fun, if only because it allows regular use of the excellent word "cantankerous".

I'm on call for work so must likely fielding a few calls from people who have lost their car keys. They will most likely be in Lorne and tell me they have to drive home to Melbourne Tuesday. Unfortunately for them I can't do squat for them until the shop is open again on Wednesday.
Might also get some calls from drunk people who have locked themselves out of the house and they may not be thrilled at what I will charge to go open the door

Just heading round to a mates place. He’s got young kids that he’ll put to bed, then we’ll just do pizza and beer and watch whatever sport is on, I assume there’s a big bash game or something.

We’ll say happy new year if either or both of us haven’t fallen asleep in our chairs by midnight.

Peak excitement age for New Years seemed to be between about 16 and 25, so I guess there’ll be parties again in a few years when everyone’s kids grow up a bit. And then we’ll just be the creepy uncles.

What would you charge?

Having dinner with Mrs Beerfish in the city. Early reservation. Will be on the train home while the dickheads are still warming up. Then probably a movie or something. No doubt fast asleep just after midnight with any luck.
Same again BUT this time in Freo with NO reservation.

If you're not living on the edge, you're just taking up space.

Taipei.

All hostels and affordable hotels completely booked NYE.

All trains heading into and out of Taipei on 31st and 1st completely booked out.

Have seen footage of the insane crowds competing for a view of fireworks on a tower.

No thanks.

Crowds Oriental Style can * right off.

I'll stay in the town I'm living in, where I can celebrate whilst sitting down with a beer in one hand ciggie in another.

Nothing, and certainly not in the mood for celebrating anything (see rate your year thread post about abruptly losing my dog).

Was lucky enough to have the quietest possible Christmas and Boxing Day this year, and will be the same for tomorrow.

A movie marathon of Avengers IW, The Last Jedi, Rogue One, and Baby Driver it is.

Barely watch one movie a month, so it's time for a bit of cramming.

Spending it with too many people because one of my in-laws decided to invite 2 other families
Going to be way too many people in the house and we have to go

What would you charge?

Depends on the time really
Before midnight $180-250 of which I see $80-110.
After midnight, it becomes a public holiday and I'll likely have to get out of bed, so I'd probably say $400-500. If they say yes, good pay day. If they don't, I turn over and go back to sleep.
Those prices are for local jobs, travel times will also come into consideration if more than 30 minutes away

Gee that's steep. Might be cheaper to break a window

You get a fair few people who respond with that exact thing. If they want to jump through a broken window, potentially slicing themselves open, they can go right ahead.
Not to mention the house is no longer secure until it is fixed and you could be waiting a few days to save money on what i would have charged.

Alcohol and cannabis at home and maybe walk to the park at 11.30pm. Got a feeling I won't live this close to the CBD in 12 months so may as well get a look at the fireworks.
