What is the most unbreakable record in the AFL?

I actually see that record getting broken within the next ten years. The speed of the game is far superior to what it was in 1992, it only takes an innovative coach to launch an all-out attack against a weak opponent and the record will go. We should've gone close last year against GWS when we kicked 28.25(193). Kick straight (say 38.15(243)) and the record is ours. There were some horrific missed shots that day.

The one thing holding teams back is the fact that the quarters in 1992 were five minutes longer than what they are now.

I agree. Maybe not in the next ten years, however scores that big are kicked every single week in country football and lower divisions. From a purely theoretical standpoint a goal every 2 mins playing time to reach 40goals is very possible.

All it takes is the gulf between top and lower teams to get larger, which has certainly occurred in the last few years. Or for there to be some sort of on-field protest such as Melbourne 2011.

To go with Pluggers 1360 Goals:

His record of 145 bags of 5 goals.

and 22 bags of 10 goals. No current player has more than 1 10 goal haul.

He had 10 at the seven minute mark of the 3rd quarter IIRC. Brereton was confident he'd get to 18 the way he was going. He then went cold, before kicking two late ones in the last minute.

Dunstall kicked 11 in the first half on his way to 17.5 against Richmond in 1992. As good a performance as that was, I think 'Chief' would've been dirty he couldn't equal the record with how well he'd started.

Franklin also didn't kick his first until the very end of the first quarter.

So he basically had 10 goals in a quarter and a half of football

Whats the longest time before a clubs first premiership ?

freo must be a good chance

Saints were pretty close to 70 years for their first.

Freo have a chance though. Only half a decade to go.

The quarters were longer but also the clock did not stop for ball ups like it does now.
