I thought about that one and with the rules as they are currently i don't see it happening unless the other team is completely and utterly useless?

lol man, you have no idea how poor teams can get. I'm half-surprised Mark Neeld didn't get the record.

Most consecutive games lost - 51 (University)

Lowest score ever - 1 point (St Kilda 1899)

Pretty hard to see someone breaking Collingwood's 4 flags in a row either.

Any of them are good.

You could add:

- Most goals in a game - 18 (Fred Fanning)
- Most successive wins - Geelong with 23 (1952-53 - that has proved remarkably durable)

Most interchanges in a game doesn't look likely to get broken now.

Low-score type records. There is still an outside chance of a team getting 0 goals in a game again if there are truly shocking conditions. I can't see there ever being another scoreless quarter again though.

Longevity records might well be there for the taking - footy is one of the longest games going around and I wouldn't be surprised if down the track they shorten it again.

Most free kicks in a game.

Fred Fanning's 18 goals in a game.

Points for coming up with something both unbreakable and obscure..

Some obvious ones to get the ball rolling...

Goals in one season: Bob Pratt, Peter Hudson 150

Most brothers to play in a game: Danihers, 4

Games: Michael Tuck: 426

9 goals in a Grand Final by a forward from the losing team (Gary Ablett Snr) - rarely do we even see forwards kick 9 in the H&A, so reckon Ablett's record is safe

I think Hawthorn holds the records for most behinds in a game - 41. Don't see that being broken any time soon

Additionally, they kicked 25 goals in this game, for 66 scoring shots. I think this is the highest

John Coleman - 12 goals on debut. Can't see that being beaten any time soon

OK, an obscure one that will never be broken:

Fitzroy winning both the wooden spoon and the premiership in the same season. And no, there were no disqualifications involved.

There kind of where disqualifications though as most teams couldn't be fielded because of the war!

Answer is obvious, records such as "First team to do..."

e.g. Geelong will always be the first team to win an AFL Grand Final by over 100 points, no other team will ever break this record.

People seem to think things never change, but they do, and constantly.

Say for example the current equalisation measures fall apart and we end up with a competition as imbalanced as the EPL and private ownership comes in. A cash rich team winning 10 premierships in a row is not out of the question. Some day a team will fail to score - now that will be a record that will never be beaten, although it will be equalled.

As Fitzroy won the major premiership (as opposed to the minor premiership) Richmond won the major wooden spoon in 1916.

He jointly holds that record.
