What is the most unbreakable record in the AFL?

Graham Moss, 1976. Was to never play another game in the VFL/AFL after winning the Brownlow.

Also Brian Gleeson (1957). Winner at 22 and anointed St.Kilda captain for the following year, he did his knee in a practice match and never played again.

Of those who played again, Peter Box (1956) only played 14 more games.

The lowest score in the game is by far the one that will never be broken. The others will be tough, but there are some that are possible. Franklin kicked 13 goals so I'd say the most goals in a game record isn't out of the question one day.
He had 10 at the seven minute mark of the 3rd quarter IIRC. Brereton was confident he'd get to 18 the way he was going. He then went cold, before kicking two late ones in the last minute.

Dunstall kicked 11 in the first half on his way to 17.5 against Richmond in 1992. As good a performance as that was, I think 'Chief' would've been dirty he couldn't equal the record with how well he'd started.

Most colours in a team? Brisbane: Black, Brown, Green, White, and a few redheads. I'm sure brisbane had a white last year.

Tony Southcombe - last player to wear glasses while playing.

IMO there is only one record that couldn't conceivably be beaten and that is 0.1 for a game by the Saints.

Everything else, even though some of them are VERY unlikely, could conceivably be beaten. 18k to a grand final, well it's not a 100% guarantee that footy will always be this popular. This is probably the next unbreakable record.

18 goals in game? Could definitely be done. 13 years between games? That's a good one. I like it. But breaking it is definitely plausible. Michael Tucks games, grand final and flags record. Hard, but they could be done. Lockett, 4 flags in a row, 7 grand finals in a row etc,.

Whilst they will be around for a long time, they are all breakable. But 0.1 in a game? not a snowflakes chance in hell.

What if in the future the game has a sin-bin or red cards or whatever, a pre or early match brawl sees a number of players from one side sent off for the match, that sort of imbalance could result in a team only scoring once. You'd need a crystal ball to rule it out completely.

yeah true. potentially. a terrorist attack at the start of a game too? all feasible but a huge stretch man.

my life motto is "anythings possible" so i can never rule anything out categorically, but 0.1 seems about as safe as it gets.

relating it to cricket, just about everyone assumed the lowest score of 26 was never gonna be broken but we were 9/21 only a couple of years ago.

Least amount of career games for a premiership player. 1

Bill James played his one and only game in Richmonds 1920 Premiership side.

I'd be happy to hang my hat on that career.

Forfeiture - eg unregistered player, team sheet not signed correctly, players fail drug test - team score gets set to zero.

A college team in the states forfeited a game today due to player protests over travelling conditions. Lots of possibilities..........................

I also remember a game a few years back where Richmond went 2-and-a-half quarters without scoring against the Saints when Lyon had his pressure defence working correctly.

Another game where North played Geelong in a gale/storm and didn't score after the 12-minute mark of the second quarter.

It's certainly possible - would require a combination of good team/bad team/extreme weather/bad luck. Unlikely, but............................

Youngest player to win a Coleman medal - 19 yo John Longmire

14 goals in a game at the MCG shared between John Longmire and Gary Ablett Snr.

Longmire was 19 years 188 days old with 41 games experience. Ablett Snr was 31 years 212 days old with 170 games experience.
