Our percentage was bloody good for 4 wins.

But worst team would be 95/96 no one really wanted to be there, or evenb sydney 92/93/94

I thought Carlton of 2003 were pretty bad. So bad, they couldn't even win the spoon.

Easily the worst team to finish 2nd last that I can remember.

Pretty hard to top the 96 Lions. Poor bastards played like the equivalent of a man moping around on death row all year. A percentage of 49 tells a story all on its own.

Though of course we somehow still managed to lose to them.

Anyone who remembers watching Fitzroy '96 live knows there is no contest.

Hang on, I thought the Swans never bottomed out !

Roos played for 3 of those teams

Is it better to bottom out and win a flag one day, or be Melbourne over the last 44 years?

Just unfortunate that they met juggernauts in '88 and '00. Howevere they were their own worst enemy in '87 and '02.

I can't remember teams having as many 100+ point losses as Carlton in the period between 2002-2007.

I know everyone will laugh at this, but really, the only thing that made us any better than the 1996 Fitzroy was that we had a Brendan Fevola - at elast a forward who kick a bag of goals.

No you thunk it... he only played for none of those listed!

Joined Swans in 95;)

If Monty Python ever did a send up of footy....then send up of:

Swans 93 V Fitzroy 96..... might be the only game some Roy boys would laugh after the game!!!

Swans 93.... even if fitted with skirts couldn't beat the local netball team and would prolly think marbles on the corner was also too tough!

No Roos left Fitzroy after the 1994 season debuting with Sydney in 1995. Therefore, he avoided those wooden spoons.

he never actually played for those teams when they spooned.....

Darren Holmes played for all five of these teams (Swans in 1992, 1993 & 1994; Fitzroy in 1995 & 1996).

I agree with some of the earlier posters; some of the worst teams actually avoided the wooden spoon. Carlton's 2003 team & the West Coast sides of 2001 & 2008 did not finish last but deserved to given their effort, or the lack of it, during the year.

Surely University should come into consideration, i know we are talking VFL at the time, though between 1911 - 1914, they won 2 of 72, and 4 straight wooden spoons...
