I just have this idea in my mind, were captive to one person and it's not like we are going gang busters.

One thing we should give a big tick, that even after all this time, the enthusiasm is still there.

But really how long should one person run the show? Just seems tenure is not ideal.

Yes Eddie does, when he's called to the fathers house.

If either Ed/Pert/Walsh go about selecting Brad Scott as the next head coach, their needs to be a challenge of the board.

That would be one of the most deplorable coaching appointments in football history.

How about someone outside the club, and go through due dilligence while you're at it the way Carlton have.

If we get Scott I'll not renew my membership until he is sacked. I will not put up with 3-5 years of that moron.


If Buckley goes, and we can't possibly be considering keeping him, then we must get either the best coach available. And by that I mean Clarkson or Brendan Bolton.


Clarkson is basically the malthouse equivalent for us in today's terms. Great coach, has had much recent success and possibly available for a new challenge at the biggest club in the country. Offer him 2 million a year over 5 with a million dollar bonus for each flag he delivers. Give him access to anyone and anything he needs to turn us into the on field power that hawks have been in the last 10 years.


Brendan Bolton. This guy is awesome. He's got a team of shit kickers with a sprinkling of young gun talent playing like they'll become an unstoppable force in the next few years. I like this man. Everything about him screams premiership winning team builder to me. He, I believe, is on a yearly type contract. Not a fixed term one. Has worked under the best and demonstrated an ability to coach well.
Probably to loyal ATM to pry out of carltons hands but a 5 year lucrative deal would be a good way to pluck him from their clutches and maybe get the reverse malthouse happening.



Also want pert gone. As other have mentioned there is just something about him that doesn't seem right.


Really, we need a major upheaval from top to bottom. As stated already, even the bootstudder needs to be looked at.


One person we definitely need back is nick maxwell. I'd even appoint him as coach, provided we can get he right people around him. Maybe get in mark Harvey or Paul for 2-3 years while maxwell begins as an assistant or even head coach with major input from either MH/PR.


Similar to what should have happened with mm/bucks.

In theory it was a good idea but when malthouse turned and bucks was left to his own devices and string of people walking in and out of the club during the club hasn't helped him.

On bucks, he isn't flexible enough to change his game plan. It doesn't suit this squad. Where's malthouse based his game plan on his "cattle", bucks is trying to make his list play a style that would only work with a list like GWS has.

I think I need to start posting less on bigfooty.

Too many irrational posts at the moment (not directed at you) but I subscribe to the theory "that less is more".

Our Club will be the death of me.......but I still love it.

Best practice corporate governance says 2 or 3 terms of 3 years for a director. After that you risk a lack of objective challenge to previous decisions ( marking your own homework ).

Jeff Kennett introduced this at Hawthorn and I have it on good authority that many clubs are introducing this. The AFL is undertaking club governance reviews and watching to see which clubs elect to follow best practice before considering whether to require this. I am hoping the CFC review will recommend maximum terms to avoid what has happened to CFC happening again.

Ed needs to announce his retirement (with at least Waislitz and McMullin) so that good candidates can be found or will come forward with a peaceful transition to a renewed Board with the right mix of skills and experience from across the country.

This will take 12 months so he could say this now for the end of next year.

Otherwise he runs the risk of Richmond style challenges as the anger builds.

As for turning, there are many supporters who have never liked the distraction of a media personality as the dominant figure in our club. I have gone from not liking this at the outset but accepting he was prepared to step up for the club to thinking he had been there too long (after 2010 it was time for someone else).

I have always cringed at the conflict with his role in the media and been offended by his gaffes regarding race and women. That does nothing to further the interests of the club. I also query decisions to expand outside footy.

We are a massive club with members from all walks of life and with varying opinions. Please don't assume everyone is turning and for those who are changing their views, I am relieved as it means change is possible.

There's no chance I would even consider him unless we conducted a thorough interview process and he came through as the best candidate, but we could do worse than him in fact we already are!

There are only a few boot studders coming out of contract this year and they are either past it or injury prone.
Sure Neil may not be the best, we know sometimes he forgets to tighten a stud and has a habit of handing Adams two left boots etc but I think until a better option becomes available we have to hold on to him.

Maybe a Director of bootstudding to oversee the process and add additional control and governance

The two most hurtful cancers which we simply must get out of the club at all costs are Pert and Harvey.

Pert has his eye on profits and it's at the expense of the club's success. It's a dumbfoundingly idiotic and myopic view and he amazingly doesn't seem to realize that dollars flow from the club winning football games first and foremost. It's all very well and good to try and sell me a membership for netball games on the side, but if you're not willing to spend enough to hire a full time ruck coach, some more accomplished assistants and sufficiently resourced recruiters, then you're just sacrificing the club for the bottom line. And all so you can avoid paying a small equalisation tax. There's a reason Pert is despised throughout the club, going back to the days of Trav Cloke parking in his space. He's a money hungry grub with no feel for the sport. The sooner he takes up a job at an investment banking firm the better we'll all be.

Harvs is just a terrible coach and always has been. It speaks volumes that St Kilda was relieved to see him depart their club. Our midfielders have regressed like clockwork every year he's been in charge.

There are plenty more that need to be shown the door (or at least demoted to token positions - Tarks and Pebbles spring to mind) but Pert and Harvey are bonafide club destroyers. I'd even be willing to keep Bucks if it meant we could offload those two.

This, this right here is the key.

Enough of this 'big name' or 'must be an established coach' shit. It's time for this club to (re)join the 21st century. That means a forensic recruiting process, overseen by a panel and the services of a recruiting firm, trawling the length and depth of the football industry. If that process comes back with Scott as the best candidate, then so be it...

Up till Saturday I thought what would happen was Nathans appointment for a further two years.
I have changed after Nathan's comments and think he will self jump at the end of year saying it's for someone else.
