I'm curious as to the breakdown of support for the WAFL clubs from Fremantle fans. In particular I'm wondering how many Freo fans come from SF and EF compared to the rest of the WAFL.

I posed this question early last year on The Purple Horde but was hoping it would get a greater response on this board now with the season in full swing.

So gang, who do you support in the WAFL?

Did you grow up barracking for them? Or do you just like their colours?

If you don't support a team, why not? Too young to remember the glory days of the WAFL? Do you only follow the AFL? Or are you a blow in?

I went for Souths originally because all of my mates live in the East Freo area and therefore go for East Freo, who I just cannot stand, even though I live closer to East Freo than South Freo.

Anyone who picks Subi deserves to be shot.

Easts. :)

The Mum went for Souths, the Dad barracked for Easts.

Us two boys went for Easts. She was always mightily impressed. :)

Lifelong suppporter of Sth Freo....

ever since I can remember I've supported Sth Freo.... which is 90% of the reason I chose to support Freo... other 10% is just because...

sharks for me
my disdain for the eagles goes back to 87 at the inception of the eagles when all of a sudden the wafl was made a second rate comp, saturday afternoons at the footy lost a little bit of thier gloss, and we were all supposed to follow this state team(half of whom came from the mighty sharks).
i could never make myself like this team ,sadly i became a person who liked footy but didnt really love a side
then along came freo ,you beauty a team to barrack for again.

Although some T.W.A.T in another thread reckons Sowfs are the reason Freo fails so much, I am a staunch Bulldogs man. ...and might I add, what a great start to the year that the Sharks and Bulldogs are doing well, the mouth waters at an Easts /Souths GF!

Ditto Freo1995.

I've followed the Sharks since the days of the Old Easts. Good friends of my parents were closely involved with the Sharks committee, and another close friend was a passionate Sharks supporter so needless to say I was never going to support any other club. And I would also hate the apologists down the Rd.

East should have done a Port and gone into the AFL alone ;)

Played my junior footy in the Claremont District so the Tigers for me.
These days I find myself going to whichever WALF game has the most Dockers involved. I get out to Basso a lot at the moment just because I love the ground and Walters & Pearce are playing. Always enjoy seeing Wolfie and now Jetta go around. Last year was good watching Swans with Nat and Yarran.
Tiges are a bit ho hum at the mo but I don't think they are far off coming good. I guess they will lose DeBoer now, Swift probably isn't far away but on the plus side Sibbo should be promoted from the Magoos.

Swan Districts through and through. Ah the good ol' days of Brad Shine, Mike Richarson, the Narkles and big Ron Boucher! Those were the days.

Mum goes for Easts, Dad for Swans. When FFC was formed in 1994/5 I was immediately onboard the Freo train. Member since '95. As they say: Freo chooses us, we don't choose Freo.:)

I'm always puzzled by those South/East Freo fans who still barrack for the slime. Just weird.

Old easts for me.

The saying "the team chooses you, you don't choose the team" is dead right.

Being from QLD , even though i went along to the 1975 GF and the first SOO game I didn't have a team.

When i moved here we didn't have any TV at all and the Pub used to get a copy on the Saturday game on the paper truck and replay it at the Sunday session.

I was particularly impressed by a bloke name Peake and soon became 'chosen" by old easts.

The publican was a Sowf;s supporter and his Wife was Easts.

The week leading up to the 1979 GF was huge with half the pub blue and white and the other half red and white.

It was really my first experience with the "tribalism" the footy generated although the draft has diminished that a good part of a fair bit.

Been a Souths fan from day one, spent most of my youth at the south games in my South jumper. Would then stay back for presentations each weekend with my father. Still remember some of the classic Mal Brown speeches :thumbsu:

Staunch Souths since the day they sent our Jeffery there. Then my son started working with Easts, so what to do... I can tell you I got some funny looks at the derby when I was cheering anything and everything.

Grew up int East Freo country zone. Budgie was my hero. Did'nt follow VFL at all until he played for the Bombers. I wasn't into the Derbies as much as the E.F. v S.D. games because of the Alexander/Boucher Ruck duels. I had the Old Easts team song on record.

Subi. Family has been following Subi for 4 generations so when I was a kid there was no option. Grew up in the East Freo district and have always lived around Freo, so I joined the Dockers from day one.

Go on Legitimatic - shoot me :D

Souths all the way , but as a youngster grew up supporting the Falcons

Repent - there is still time my child.

Journey back into the light.
