Is it just me or is Adelaide getting a rep as the second worst side to trade with after Essendon?

They held Danger to his contract despite him being a F/A to try and squeeze more out of Geelong, messed up the Gibbs thing last year when they actually had a contracted SA player actually put their hands up to come over (leaving him high and dry), lost what his name to GC for nothing, and now this year are treating Lever and Cameron like shit, despite everyone knowing they were going for months.

Throwing their toys out of the cot a bit here. If free agency and young players requesting trades are so unnaceptable, can we please have Betts and Jacobs back?

Melbourne cant really talk re the Lever thing, as they were pretty much the same with Scully (tantrums left right and centre even though they knew he was gone), but still.
Just over the past few years, Adelaide have looked pretty amateurish with trading.
You can’t be this dumb can you? Cameron and Gibbs are the reverse situation. How is what we are doing with him any different to what you did?
And then you put this gem in the same post.

This is unadulterated bullshit. He’s on more than that now.
No he isn't, he walked out on you. He is about to become a Melbourne player and your club will take a first and second pick or nothing. That is the truth.

What? That got nothing to do with what I wrote.
He did not get an offer in the 3’s first up that has come from the lever camp and it’s bullshit.
The rest is reasonable except you have no idea what we will get for him.

Wait and see, good chance nothing. Collingwood, salary cap near full, Nth Melbourne looking at mid field improvement,Carlton, heavily into GWS players, Essendon, more deals than you would get at a casino, Hawthorn, first pick in the 30's, Richmond 15 first pick. St Kilda 7 and 8 already stated need mid fielders, Bulldogs possibly, but can they match Jakes contract, and would he sign???

I’m ok with that, whether lever is happy with Collingwood or kangaroos is a different story.
About that 300k offer bullshit..

“We’ve looked at other deals that have been done for similar talented young players and we’ve got a deal on the table with Adelaide right now that involves our first and second round picks. We think that is certainly a commencement with the type of player he is. That’s our offer at this stage.”

If josh is starting with a 1st and 2nd as his commencement where will he end up

Who is Josh?

well what i heard was:
  • Lowball offer by Crows of 250-280k / 4 years
  • Lever's manager said stick it and 'well look elsewhere'
  • Crows said go ahead but we'll maximum 400k / 3 years (this is all before end of round 23)
  • Melbourne tables offer actually more like 700k
  • ---- FINALS SERIES ENDS ----
  • Officially Lever decides to go for Melbourne
  • Lever tells Texan the Texas Ranger and Texas Tex says "you money hungry grub, i took a paycut to keep flogs like you here and now we lose you and the chance of a premiership"
  • Fages rings up and says "you're still welcome to come to B&F but don't go near Texta
  • Texers actually goes round Lever's house and bangs on the door
  • but Leaver is out dumping his playing gear
  • Texas's girlfriend turns up and drives Texus home
  • Plus at the B&F Tex says to Charlie Cameron "you tell me now if you are trying to leave to my face and almost starts a fight"
  • nice guy ROrey splits them up
  • Round X, 2018 Melbourne vs Crows at AO a fan hurls a urine filled balloon with LEAVER $$$ written on it, hits Jesse Hogan and puts out his ciggy
  • Texas bravely pushes Laver in the back behind play
Meanwhile at Port it was more like:
  • Waco Jacko not selected for final
  • realises he's going to play seconds next year,
  • talks to coaches, manager, announces he's leaving
  • but he left his soul at the club
  • welcome back any time
  • Round X, 2018 Port vs Dogs, our banner welcomes Jacko back, we cheer him on as he runs through the banner,
  • after the game Jacko is carried off by Boaky Dixon Wines and Ryder all happy with tears

Aside from the fact one (Gibbs) was contracted to his current club, and the other (Lever) is not, having just finished his contract with you. He owes you nothing. Gibbs owed us another 3 years.

And even notwithstanding that inconvenient fact, one club (Carlton) treated its player well, with the boys all out on an end of season trip together and no hard feelings, the Captain and others supporting him (if a bit dissapointed, and hopeful he would stay). Instead of labelling him a traitor and mercenary (and worse), we largely accepted it. When the trade didnt happen, we hadnt burnt any bridges, and the player stayed with us and played well.

The other club has handled it poorly, with the Captain and HQ publicly calling him out, him being made a pariah, and bridges being burnt. Desipte him (apparently) taking the time to text every single player on the list.

When an uncontracted player expresses his desire to be traded, you accept the commercial realities and act like adults. You dont act like... well whatever this is.

An arrogance has crept in over at the Crows, coupled with a sense of entitlement and some rather amateur trade strategies. Its not exactly creating an atmosphere where a player wants to put his hand up and head there, or a sense of confidence that a trade will get done.

Unlike teams like Geelong, who have a reputation for trading fairly.

And (mod hat on for a bit) cut out calling people dumb.

Bookmarked ... before you ninja edit.
Bookmark as much as you like, Lever has stated he will go to the draft. I doubt your club will allow that to happen. Your supporters on BF are the problem really.

Is that a Carlton mod claiming Adelaide is not a place players want to go? Really? Think about it.

As far as "Adelaide is acting badly" ... you understand how the media works don't you? You don't think it needs to be balanced or truthful do you? Are you trying to say that Jake has followed the golden path here? He has shat on AFC throughout the entire process, and you want the Crows to smile and eat that sandwich? He set up an interview with BT to tell everyone he was leaving - and IN THAT INTERVIEW he threatens to go through the draft if he doesn't get his way. He shares a private phone call with the captain with the media to try and score brownie points. He tells the world that the club banned him from the B&F when actually they advised him against going and left it to him. Are you this naive?

Gee you are a different poster out here aren't ya ... big tough talkin' demon.

You are the one saying AFC will get nothing - lol - then the next post you "doubt your club will allow that to happen"? Make up your mind.

Pretty sure I said Cameron not lever.
Lever is a completely different scenario. I know that. Cameron is identical.

1st and 2nd. Fair price for Lever.

Actually believe it was a mutual decision for Lever not to attend, for the benefit of all involved. I believe Jake was open with his intentions with Adelaide and even advised them before the finals began. You do realize Adelaide and Melbourne have been working on a solution before the finals don't you? And the club have every right to want two first round picks, just the same as Melbourne have the right to say, NO 1st and 2nd, and if no compromise, Jake has the right to go to the draft and Melbourne get him and Adelaide get zero. Once again, I doubt your club would be that silly.

I like the part where one of yours came on our board and tried to claim you guys weren’t even the highest bidder.
I wonder why lever is happy to go in the draft then?

imo Adelaide have a very high school teenage boy like culture at the club. I understand they would be frustrated at players continually wanting to leave, but their reactions and trantrums towards it come accross as petty and angsty... Captain having a tantrum in levers face (not saying I rate Levers attitude either), players demanding lever be dropped from the biggest game of the year, not being invited to the BnF. Thats all school yard pettiness over a player wanting to leave a club...

Brett Deledio chose to leave the club after our shit year last year, he was also impicated to play a big part in fights within the playing group.

After the prelim he got a little bit emotional, what was the first thing Trent Cotchin did? went over and consoled him... Would Tex or most Crows players have done this?

Why does Adelaide feel the need to comment on Lever's move? When a player leaves your club, there is nothing to be said. There is no point damaging the relationship further, in fact it pays to have allies at other clubs.

Read above, Lever will get to Melbourne. It is his signature that seals everything.

People keep saying players but what other players have left on these terms?

So you agree that Lever and his camp have acted badly here ... and that almost all of this discussion is based on rubbish that was leaked to the media by them to make the AFC look bad? Good.

I've never thought that a deal wouldn't be done - that was your position not mine.

I reckon the whole team would have spat on him and stolen his lunch money ... then Tex would have taken his mother out for a nice seafood dinner and never called her again.
