All this talk that we are lookin to pick up a ruckman, surely Hille has had enough experience to stand alone as our top ruckman with Laycock, Bradley and Cartledge in support.

If we can have
Playing: Hille / Laycock in our first 22 each game we'll go far this year, however if we have to rely on Cartledge as a 2nd option then we might be in trouble, don't get me wrong these guys will come good, but it takes time, look at Hille a perfect example.

Hille will be our number one ruckman no matter what. But if he was to have major injury we would be stuffed.

Laycock and Cartledge should be given time to grow and develop like Hille was. I suspect that Laycock will play about 10 to 16 games and Cartledge 3 or 4 in 2006. Neither player would be able to hold down the Number One ruck spot if the worst were to happen.

An experienced ruckman would buy Laycock and Cartledge the time they need, as well as being a good fall back.

Fair enough... but what if Hille doesnt go down with injury, won't another ruckman get in the way of the development of Laycock and Cartledge.

And ....... theres always Henneman, who if remains on the list is likely to play ruck ahead of the others

Better to have some insurance than not.

Plus Barnes, Salmon and Allan didn't get in the way of Hille, all helped him along. If we get the extra ruckman we still have the option of not playing him if either Laycock or Cartledge play well enough to demand extra game time.

Henneman and Bradley will only ever really just be pinch hitting ruckman at best.

i dont think sheedy really wants to use laycock in the ruck i think he thinks of him being a tall in the foward line.
hille hasnt strung enough games together for a while and we dont want to have the same case as collingwood did this year with our no1 ruckman being someone who has played no games in his life (fanning)
