The NRL continue to fudge their ratings, hold their Grand Final at night and on a sports free weekend and proclaim that their teams are worth more than AFL teams. Recently, a study showed that the Penrith Panthers are a more 'valuable club' than Collingwood
Surely this is a joke. We live rent free in all NRL commentators heads - they are continuously comparing the codes.
I think its time to consign the NRL to history and place our Grand Final on exactly the same time as theirs (or the same day or at least on the same weekend). We shouldn't give them a free hit. We also should be calling out the new 'average viewers' ratings system that favors the NRL rather than showing the reality of the numbers.
Additionally, we should be pressuring the Federal and NSW Governments in their bias in funding for the NRL. The fact that the Federal Government paid millions to build a NRL in another country is utterly ridiculous. The SCG is a crumbing shame - one stand is up to standard while the rest of the ground is in worse shape than most suburban grounds. Every other state in the country has a modern stadium or is about to build one. How can the largest (or second largest) city in the country provide minimal money for its largest code yet spend multiple millions on a dying sport like League?!
It's time the AFL put their foot on the neck of the pathetic rival and prove beyond any argument that AFL is leagues ahead.
