We have a group of B players who have shown they can play, but haven't set the world on fire yet, either through injuries, getting constant games, or more depth has arisen in their positions since they arrived.
Let's see what the hive mind things.

Scholl
Schoenberg
Cook
Berry
Jones
Murphy
Butts
Borlase
Dowling

Also, if they don't make it with us, who out of that lot will get a second chance at another club?
For me
Scholl - Yes, if not with us, at another club.
Schoenberg- No.
Cook - No.
Berry - Yes, if not with us, at another club.
Jones - Yes, if not with us, then Tassie
Murphy- Yes, he stays as back up.
Butts - Yes
Borlase - No. Maybe, maybe Power.
Dowling - Not sure. More No than Yes.

Scholl - has made it id say but near peak. never more than a B Grader. if Jones came good could be better
Schoenberg - have always thought he has what it takes to be AFL level. Keen to keep him or at worst trade for second rounder end of year
Cook - never understood the hype of so many on here. Delisted end of year
Berry - 50/50. Depth level and not sure he is ever playing in a GF level team
Jones - see above
Murphy - last year of AFL this year
Butts - definitely up to it. Would get us a decent draft pick if traded as has shown he is AFL level. Ideally keep as depth and wonder if Murray/Keane/Worrell could ever go forward if needed. Butts definitely a one trick pony as KPD
Borlase - depth at best. Has displayed and gotten better than I thought possible. Will likely stay on someones list for the next few years but not sure he is ever starting 18 for any team
Dowling - limited upside. Has good endeavour but never likely consistent AFL player in a good team

In summary the best, Shoey, and Jones (if he can recapture past glimpses). Sholl and Butts already made it
Wont make it - Murph, Cook
Very marginal AFL players - Borlase, Berry and Dowling

Schoenberg - have always thought he has what it takes to be AFL level. Keen to keep him or at worst trade for second rounder end of year
Trade for a second rounder?

Brahahaha another Borlaise to power post 😂

It’s like clockwork but they’ve never shown one iota of interest

We will need to delist players at the end of the year so likes of Murphy in the last year of his contract don’t get an extension. He is fortunate to have had a 7 year AFL career.

Cook needs to show more otherwise delist at the end of 2026.

Scholl and Butts have made it and would attract a trade but fringe players.

Murphy’s played 115 games, so love him or hate him he’s an AFL player. Wouldn’t get a trade but then I said the same of Atkins and he’s had two.
The other are a bust.
You can add Pedlar to the list

What kills us is:

Jones (Pick 9) – Butters (12)
Schoenberg (24) – J Rivers (32), K Coleman (33), Chad Warner (39)
Pedlar (11) – Tom Powell (13)
Berry (28) – Shannon Neale (33)
Dowling (43) – Isaac Keeler (44)
Cook (25) - Nathan O’Driscoll (27)

I think you've got carried away with these ones.

I'm surprised they haven't. He is a decent back up for a position they lack, and they would play up the whole "prodigal son returning" story for their toothless fans.
Don’t think he suits the style of defence they want , they play a very aggressive high press so need their defenders to be speedy and mobile more than size

If their game style changes maybe but they’ve never seemed to rate him

Sholl - keep
Schoenberg - will be obvious by end of year
Cook - likely delist and won’t have interest elsewhere
Berry - should have traded , keep now until end of contract good depth
Jones - should be bashing door down to play this year
Murphy - delist end of contract
Butts - good guy to have on list will get games
Borlaise - likely delist end of contract this year but not the worst depth
Dowling - I think he’s such a hard worker that he will chisel out an afl career , might find it hard to breakthrough this year given our depth

They did as a Jr and tried to get him taken out of the academy, complaining her should have been a father son for them. If he was they would have taken him I think.

Borlase surprisingly got a 2 year extension (2026), yet Bond our only lockdown defender on smalls and medium forward only got 1 year.

Dowling was one I had big hopes for, as he is a really good goal kicking mid. Now with the extra depth we have in the midfield he has gone back in the rankings.

The club will prioritise Peatling, ANB, Draper and Cumming over him at this point. We then also have Taylor and Edwards that the club will want to have a good look at as well, which might reduce his opportunities.

Who would have thought we had too many good young mids this time last year.

Nah, if they wanted him they had ample opportunity in his draft year (2020) or he wouldn't have got through to the rookie draft where we picked him up for nought and he's been delisted and re-rookied so they could have taken him then too.

Sholl - Not sure. Had a really good 2024 but I worry about him in finals given his size and lack of physicality.
Schoenberg - No, already a bust
Cook - No, already a bust
Berry - Unlikely, won't be best 22 but may retain a spot on an AFL list for depth. Also, just as likely to be playing in a state league in 3 years.
Jones - No, already a bust
Murphy - No, already a bust
Butts - Yes

Dowling - Not sure. God I hope so but possibly not enough weapons in his game to be anything more than a depth player.

Butts is a quality player. I maintain that Collingwood were banging down the door for the wrong KPD, Keane is great but they're still sorely lacking a Murphy replacement. We seem set on fielding two offensive minded KPD and Murray is preferred in the lockdown role, but he's a good enough KPD that I could see a handful of teams benefitting from his service.

Berry could be a role player at another club. Butts would be good in a lot of teams I think, and Sholl will be a regular for us this year.

The rest are probably all a no.

Scholl - consistent and finds the football but not damaging or able to compete physically, others will go past him, solid depth even at another club
Schoenberg - not unless something remarkable happens
Cook - has the talent but running out of time to show he can get involved, leaning towards no now
Berry - no, two touch player with poor disposal
Jones - as vanilla as footballers get, depth here and anywhere else
Murphy - had so many chances, good effort player, not enough talent for the level
Butts - one of the best 1v1 KPDs, rarely loses a contest, never gets a bag kicked on him. Criminally underrated
Borlase - has stepped up every time he's been asked to, surprised a North or Carlton didn't try and pry him out.
Dowling - yes, will be a good player, is only 20

Would add Pedlar to that list, 5th year in, needs to both get his body right and fix his disposal or will be another wasted 1st rounder for us
