We can't let the Sainters get the jump on us like they did in Round 14.
I hope the team dosen't underestimate their opposition and I hope they don't act like it's already in the bag.
Yes, I'm a pessimistic but being objective I feel St Kilda will win.
In '07 I backed us to beat Port, last year I backed us to beat Hawthorn though I was very cautious (reminded myself not to be pessimistic) but my worst fears came true.
This time we are up against it to kick a winning score. Defence wins flags. Always, last year our backline went to pieces in the GF. For my mind, its still quite shaky. Scarlett and Boris will always get the job done. Milburn is reliable. Its Mackie, Kelly, Harley, Taylor I'm worried about. I don't know about them under the fierce pressure St Kilda will apply to them.
St Kilda's backline on the other hand is near inpenetratable. Don't know why. Its just impossible for anyone to score against the bastards. Our midfield goal-kickers help us in this sense. key position forwards are easily nullified by the Saints and I doubt Mooney or Hawkins will have much of an effect on this game. Conversely, Saints will look for Riewoldt and Kosi every time. If the game is close in teh last quarter, which I expect it will be, the Saints will have the advantage of being able to bomb it long to big targets. Typically, we have to find ways to maunfacture goals. Hawk and Moons are not reliable shots.
I really hope we have a plan for Sam Fisher by the way. Surely we have learnt our lesson from the Luke Hodge debacle, St Kilda mustnt be able to stroll out of our forwardline.
The first half against Collingwood showed me still that, when a team is willing to apply pressure on our ball carriers we are far from impressive. We ran away and were made to look good on the weekend. The same will not happen against the Saints. People tipping us by 'plenty' or even 5 goals are having a lend. We all remember the "shark' analogy. If its stops it dies. I fear that St Kilda will strangle our forward supply whilst using precision to hurt us the other way. I do not think the game will live up to the hype. If St Kilda get us much as 3 goals up, I'm guessing they'll be able to hold us at arms length. It is absolutely crucial that we race out of the blocks and force St Kilda to change their structure. Because I reckon otherwise they will wear us down, stop us, and we will die
Fast start to win. If not, the Saints will have it.
This as well.It is our 7th Grand Final in 21 years clearly the most in that time. We just have to win.
