I’m sorry, but we’ll continue to get so close, yet so far unless we have a key forward.

We should aim at trading up in the draft, not to select the Kangaroo supporting Bryce Gibbs, but a key forward, someone who can take a pack mark and be counted upon to kick goals. Obviously Pavlich is that man, but we need to accept that he’s not coming home anytime soon. We need to draft a young, talented key forward because we’ll never win without one.

With Hentschel out next year, we have to put up with another season of mediocre forwards. Extremely frustrating.

When the forward line got the ball in quick with half decent delivery they looked pretty dangerous. Just for most of the game the Eagles midfield had our midfield under so much pressure it was hard to try and get that kind of delivery.

And also there's practically no forwards in the competition who consistantly take pack marks. The best forwards, your Hall, Fevola, Riedvwolt are all lead up chest markers who are good overhead, but they do not pull down big pack marks, it's rare that anyone does these days.

Exactly right. We got spanked in the midfield in the second half. We could have had Pavlich, Reiwoldt and Hall all up there but it would have made sweet **** all difference. We couldn't get our hands on the ball when it mattered.

once again our lack of genuine pace was exposed - and that's why the WC are happy to run at us and use handball......about a hundred more than us today

Why not trade McGregor for Daniel Bradshaw + a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Makes sense to me. McGregor is a defender but probably isnt better then Bock Stevens Bassett Rutten and co

Agree. The game was lost in the midfield during the second half, if they hadn't kicked so crappy it could have been a real blowout.

McGregor will be back in our best 22 next year, just as he was in the first 19 games this year until doing his hammy, when we won 15 of our 19 games.

Perrie won't be traded because after his injury and average come-back, nobody will give much for a rising 28 year-old with poor skills.

I don't think we will be doing any trades to get rid of our KPPs while Hentschel is down, Gibson is an unknown, and Perrie and Kenny continue to be enigmas in terms of settling them into a position. Both will and should stay.

I don't think Roo and Welsh can play in the same fwd line......I think if Roo can have a huge PS - he might just get back into the Midfield for one more year.

Welsh worries me......he is just so inconsistent - although it's difficult to question his effort.

Bock showed me today that he is the real deal - he has what it takes to kick, bite, and scratch his way thru a finals series. He is our CHF IMO.......at least for as long as Stevens or McGregor can hold down CHB

I actually found it easy today MD - Welsh was responsible for some very poor efforts today and let us down badly.

IMo we have to continue down the path of easing Roo out of the mid-field and play him up forward. As you say, we can't play both in the same forward line so Welsh would naturally be the one to miss.

I guess that was sort of what I was getting at.......if Roo can't do enough to get back in the midfield.....then Welsh could be in trouble

If we're complaining about the inconsistency of Welsh surely then you wouldn't chase the ganddaddy of inconsistent players in Kingsley.

If the rumours are true, then I'd say yes, it is a very good reason.

He's kicked 50+ goals quite regularly, with the ordinary Geelong midfield feeding him.

I'm not saying he's the be all and end all, by any stretch, but if you could pick him up on the cheap, you'd have to consider it, again, even as a stopgap until Trent is back up and running.

Who knows, maybe Craigy could turn him into another Fev.

Spot on in the third quarter when they came at us we were slow moving the ball forward as we have no one up forward to first take a mark or keep the ball up there like Henwood used to do for Glenelg in th 80's

Maric,Meese,Huddo i dont care who but we need one at least to take a pack mark and Roo is the leading forward

Quite simply we need to get Meeson up as a key forward.

Welsh, KMac & Perrie are all reasonable forwards and have a place in the team whether up front or in the case of Kenny down back, but none of them are consistent enough. We badly need a strong pair of hands, someone who can do it week in week out.

If Mees can stand up and is given enough oportunity we may just be able to convince him to stay.
