Wood is depth.
Paton is best 22 over Webster. (in my opinion)
Jones (currently) isn't best 22.
Hopefully Phillipou is best 22 asap.
Sums up where your club is at if you want Phillipou to be in your best 22 'asap'.Wood is depth.

You're right, good sides can beat whoever is on the menu. Just like we beat Geelong last year who went on to win the flag.Good sides beat whoever is on the menu.
Really, it's embarrassing some supporters are using it as an excuse. It may reflect some of the players psyche if that is the case.
Really felt Saints would make finals last year but their second half was appalling. At one point, you guys won 1 game in 6 weeks of footy! Really, you cannot blame that on the fixture. That is simply poor quality at the top level.

What's wrong with 'wanting' a top 10 draft pick to be best 22 asap? if we were needing him to be best 22 asap then we'd have serious concerns but that's not the case.Sums up where your club is at if you want Phillipou to be in your best 22 'asap'.
Because you're pinning your hopes on wanting a 18 year first year player to come in and contribute straight away. Expectations need to be lowered regardless of what number they're drafted. This just reeks of desperation because deep down you're not confidence in much older and experienced players to take the brunt while Phillipou develops at VFL level. What's wrong with 'wanting' a top 10 draft pick to be best 22 asap? if we were needing him to be best 22 asap then we'd have serious concerns but that's not the case.
Pretty sure Melb supporters wanted Jackson to be best 22 asap as well.
There's a difference between wanting a prospect to be best 22 and "pinning your hopes" on him champ.Because you're pinning your hopes on wanting a 18 year first year player to come in and contribute straight away. Jackson? Lol. Considering he came in as a raw skinny athletic ruckman then no we actually didn't.
Expectations was always going to be a development year down at Casey. Covid put a stop to that so he was able to play only a few games at AFL level.
Um considering we already had the best ruckman in the league then no, "champ".There's a difference between wanting a prospect to be best 22 and "pinning your hopes" on him champ.
I'm pretty sure if you talk to 90% of saints supporters you'll realise we're not expecting anything from Phillipou this season. He's raw and only just turned 18 a few weeks ago.
So no one wanted Jackson to be best 22 then? ok.
Yep sure... haha give it a rest mate. Talk about reachingUm considering we already had the best ruckman in the league then no, "champ".
Wilkie, Howard, McKenzie, Hill, Crouch, Membrey, Butler, Steele , Marshall, Gresham, Sinclair, Wood, Hayes, Billings.Would you enlighten me as to who these 14 players are? I'm having trouble getting to 14 over 25.
Yeah so that backfired on you..Yep sure... haha give it a rest mate. Talk about reaching
I get what your saying but if you play Hill, Wood, Billings, and Mackenzie in the same team then your in trouble. Too similar of players to be in the same team.Wilkie, Howard, McKenzie, Hill, Crouch, Membrey, Butler, Steele , Marshall, Gresham, Sinclair, Wood, Hayes, Billings.

A team without Billings for majority of the year. I like wood as a player but he is too patchy to be best 22.Wood may have been depth in the past, but was not last season - he played 19 out of a possible 22 games.
I would assume that coffield will take Webster spot in the team as they player similar games. Paton was one of the better small forward stoppers before his broken leg.Webster played 20 out of 22 games, while Paton also played 20 out of 22, so it appears both are Best 22 - perhaps at the expense of Coffield who may not return to the senior side straight away given he's coming from a long way back.
And he shouldn't have been best 22, he was under done.Jones was first choice and played 13 out of a possible 15 games after returning from injury in Round 8.
I didn't say round 1, ASAP. Get him some expirence in the first couple of rounds and then send him to the VFL to work on any defiencies.Phillipou is still raw and may play later on in the season, but won't be Best 22 right away.
Jack Sinclair was also an All Australian last year but I guess he's B grade too?Saints are in a diabolical situation for season 2023. The 25 -29 age bracket is made up almost entirely of B graders and below (Steele the exception), and without King for a fair portion of the year, could really struggle for goals.
It's almost like they are obsessed...Really , hypotheticals ?
The.worst.list.in.the.AFL.right.now
Plenty of Freo vs WC shitfight threads around

I'm not exactly sure how you came to the conclusion that that backfired on me. Maybe you should go and get yourself acquainted with the difference between "want" & "need".Yeah so that backfired on you..
Look, St Kilda are a bottom 4 team this year. Bookmark it.
Backfired thhat you think we wanted Jackson in our best 22 asap lol. 100% wasn't even the case.I'm not exactly sure how you came to the conclusion that that backfired on me. Maybe you should go and get yourself acquainted with the difference between "want" & "need".
WANT
have a desire to possess or do (something); wish for.
NEED
require (something) because it is essential or very important rather than just desirable.
And you're not wasting your time writing that? ^^Backfired thhat you think we wanted Jackson in our best 22 asap lol. 100% wasn't even the case.
Now you've just wasted your time writing all that.
King out for a month is a fair portion of the year?
It is a conundrum.I get what your saying but if you play Hill, Wood, Billings, and Mackenzie in the same team then your in trouble. Too similar of players to be in the same team.
I would go Hill and Billings with Mackenzie on the bench, that's if Billings isn't injured. Then you need to factor in NWM who plays in a similar position so I don't see all four playing, two at best.
Agree. A lot of people are underselling Wood's year. He's been very important on the wing for us.It is a conundrum.
To be fair I think the club was probably not unhappy if Billings and/or Hill moved clubs for this very reason.
Wood was actually pretty good last year so he'd be a bit stiff to miss and he does bring versatility.
