From what I have seen Fiora is not a bad player. He is just unfortunately weighed down with the baggage of being a number 3 Pick.

I think its more that he was weighed down by the baggage of being coached by Danny Frawley.

Michael Frost?

When Stan Alves had control of the drafting he chose this bloke with our first pick on the basis of 1 or 2 good games against us. So not only was he a dud, but he was a RECYCLED dud. From memory it was the same draft that Fraser Gehrig was in.

Strangely, it was decided shortly after that perhaps this task should be taken from Stan's control....

He was our key to stealing a premiership, but he prefered lose change.
That's unfair, at pick 7 Lawrence was a steal!!!

He and Aaron Fiora would be the toss up for the most recent atrocities in the top 10. It's funny though, had the Eagles not had a stroke of medical luck with Judd's shoulders (so far!!), the story could have been different. Either it was a brilliant medical judgement or a risky move that paid off- either way though, he's certainly a gun.

The sad thing about it is that Laurance Angwin could have won a Brownlow medal if he wasn’t suck a flucken nut job

Angwin had all the football tool but didn’t have any tools in his cranium

Port have had a couple of early howlers & duds

1996 - no. 6 - John Rombotis

1998 - no. 5 - Michael Stevens

Doesnt seem to be as mant stuff ups in the early years now recruting managers have more an idea on what to look for. We used a number 1 pick on Stephen Whooper, who played all of about 20 games.

Agreed, his ability and talent weren't in question but just too many head problems.

was he a top ten pick?????

typical Port numeracy. can't divide 37 into 1 either :)

He was originally drafted at 15 by port. then the saints traded pick 7 for him after the spider deal.
so you could technically say that he is a top ten pick to st.kilda

And then we traded Fewster to Freo for pick 16 in 1999.

Those Dockers. How many WC duds did they accept in those early years?

Trent Carrol & Greg Harding ring any bells or have they been forgotten ???

Alan Didak @ pick 3 in 2000 was a waste, esp as he came after Riewoldt and Kosi. There's no way in he is the same ball park as the Saint's Duo :)

Didak was drafted after them. What were we supposed to do?

Didak is the next best player drafted in the top 10 that year, and is still one of the best players out of the draft.

Luke Livingston went one pick later...

Troll that, biatch.

;)
