Your Team's Best 22 - Round 1 2018

You had me until ‘Turner and Garner’.
Types of players was more my point. There was a reason De Boer was signed for two more years, despite being a limited player. Each team needs their grunt types who have that never say did attitude.

FB: Saad - ????? - ?????
HB Gleeson - Hurley - Mckenna
C: Zaharakis - Myers - McGrath
HF: Smith - Daniher - Stringer
FF: Tipungwutti - Hooker - Fantasia
R: Bellchambers - Heppell - Merrett
IC: Parish - Goddard - Stewart - ?????

FB: Preseason form will dictate who out of Ambrose and Hartley get first crack at FB. Ambrose is the better defender but Hartley's kicking is a weapon it is plausible that both make the best 22.

BP: Pretty wide open position seeing as Gleeson has shown signs of being able to play as a 3rd tall this past season.

Rotation Mid: Next best midfielder hopefully one of the youngsters step up and grab the postion with two hands.

B: Williams - Tarrant - Nielson
HB: Clark - Thompson - MacMillian
C: Atley - Ahern - McDonald
HF: Simpkin - Wood - Stephenson
F: Ziebell - Brown - Turner
R: Goldstein - Cunnington - Higgins
I: Mountford - Garner - Jacobs - Waite

Interesting you'd name Waite on the bench. Only makes sense to start him or drop him. Bigfooty may have just tipped you over the edge of stupid.

B: Morris, Adams, Biggs
HB: JJ, Trengove, Wood
C: Hunter, Macrae, Dahlhaus
HF: McLean, Redpath, Dale
F: Dickson, Schache, Picken
R: Boyd, Bontempelli, Liberatore
I: Daniel, Suckling, Wallis, Crozier

Young, Williams, Dunkley and Smith knocking on the door.
Strong looking side that should be back in finals contention.

Would have thought there would be a spot for Roughy?

B Plowman, Jones, Weitering
HB Simpson, Marchbank, Byrne
C Murphy, Cripps, Docherty
HF Pickett, Casboult, SPS
F Wright, McKay, Silvagni
R Kreuzer, Curnow, Curnow
INT Williamson, Cuningham, Fisher, Lang
Emg: Mullett, Lobbe, Thomas
I deleted my previous post and apologise.

B: M.Williams - Tarrant - Thompson

HB: EVW - Nielson - Atley

C: Clarke - Ziebell - McDonald

HF: Simpkin - Waite - Wood

F: Garner - Brown - Turner

R: Pruess - Cunnington - Higgins

Interchange:
Mountford - Goldstein - Zurhaar - Dumont

Emerg: Hrovat - McKay - J.Williams

I'll kick off with North's:

B: Williams - Tarrant - Thompson

HB: EVW - Nielson - MacMillian

C: Ahern - Cerra/Dow/Stephenson - McDonald

HF: Simpkin - Waite - Wood

F: Ziebell - Brown - Turner

R: Pruess - Cunnington - Higgins

Interchange:
Mountford - Goldstein - Garner - Atley

Macmillan and Ahern the unknowns for next year. The slow donkey Macmillan could easily drop off and Ahern may struggle for a while.

A preseason without Swallow/Gibson in the middle and Thomas up forward could just put this side on a decent path.

B: Morris, Adams, Biggs
HB: JJ, Trengove, Wood
C: Hunter, Macrae, Dahlhaus
HF: McLean, Redpath, Dale
F: Dickson, Schache, Picken
R: Boyd, Bontempelli, Liberatore
I: Daniel, Suckling, Wallis, Crozier

Young, Williams, Dunkley and Smith knocking on the door.

Redpath is still suspended for Round 1, but other than that it’s close to the team I’m expecting

FB: Hardwick - Frawley - Stratton

HB: Burton- Brand - Sicily

C: Smith - O'Meara - Shiels

HF: Breust - Gunston - O'Brien

FF: Puopolo - Roughead - Rioli

R: McEvoy - Mitchell - Burgoyne

IC: Birchall - Howe - Henderson - Impey

EMG: Schoenmakers - Duryea - Glass

Alex Witherden, Harris Andrews, Luke Hodge.
Darcy Gardner, Daniel McStay, Sam Mayes.

Archie Smith, Dayne Beams, Charlie Cameron.
Dayne Zorko, Jarrod Berry, Rhys Matheison.

Lewis Taylor, Josh Walker, Allen Christensen.
Cedric Cox, Eric Hipwood, Ryan Lester.

Nick Robertson, Hugh McCluggage, Daniel Rich, Mitch Robinson.

Somebody will go out for Cameron Rayner, Luke Davies-Uniacke or Paddy Dow.

FB- Gleeson Hooker Francis
HB-Saad Hurley Mckenna
C- Zaharakis Heppell McGrath
HF- Fantasia Daniher Stringer
FF- Walla Stewart Laverde
R- Belly Merrett, Parish

Int- Goddard, Smith, Langford, Begley

I'd love that to be our best 22, I think Hooker stays forward meaning Hartley plays and Laverde or Begley drop out, I feel Ambrose will have Francis spot as well.

Langford has the opportunity to be our inside bull in Watson's void we will see if he takes his chance.

Lots of speed and class in that side but how much grunt and campaigner is there?? Not much on exposed form but I feel we have some players ready to add this to the side.

Can't wait for the season.

The bolded is why we need Myers at his best come round 1. At least until a young bull stands up.

Langford has the build and vision but seems to lack mongrel. Clarke is raw, loves the contest but his skills are some way off.

The 4 blokes who I'd love to see put their hands up are Stringer, Francis, Laverde and Begley. All of these players have the required attributes so I think there is potential on our list to find the next in line to Jobe and Myers.

I would like to see this. Broad to come back after suspension with Miles to be strongly knocking on the door along with Conca, Lloyd, CEllis, Stengle, Menadue and Hampson.

FB: Vlastuin - Astbury - Grimes
B: Houli - Rance - Ellis
C: Grigg - Prestia - Lambert
F: Edwards - Caddy - Bolton
FF: Rioli - Riewoldt - Butler
R: Nankervis - Cotchin - Martin
I/C: Castagna - McIntosh - Short - Graham

Menadue will be a gun. Him and Naish as on the wings will destroy teams.

Agree on Begley, I think he could be a surprise sooner rather than later.

I also wouldn't be surprised if our smaller mids with super high intensity somewhat offset our lack of the brute inside bulls. Bellchambers won a lot of hit outs last year for little effect I'd much rather him win it and knock it 4/5 meters from the stoppage and allow us to utilize our strengths, Belly would often hit the ball straight down to the center of the contest which hurt more often than not.

Gonna be interesting how our midfield looks early.

B: Jonas Clurey Byrne-Jones
HB:Hartlett Howard Houston
C: Ebert Wines Polec
HF: Westhoff Watts Boak
F: R.Gray Dixon Motlop
R: Ryder Rockliff Wingard
I/C: SPP S.Gray Bonner Amon
Just realised that I left out Pittard. Swap him in for Bonner and that’s a very very strong first 22. Lots talked about our depth but if that’s our 22 we still have Broadbent, Bonner, Marshall, Hombsch, Atley and Neade waiting in the wings. Ruck will really be our only real shallow area.
