There is far more to having good disposal than being able to kick it long.

Being able to hit a leading target.
Being able to use both feet.
Maintain that disposal under pressure.
Penetration.

The irony being, the band of you having a go for being "Youtube" scouts when you are exactly that yourselves.


Ive seen both guys play, many times.

They are both exceptional kicks of the footy, two of the best in the draft.

And those dot points increases the hilarity of your question.

- Being able to hit a leading target (Yes)
- Being able to use both feet (Ziebell would be close to the most dual footed player in the draft, you cant tell which is his dominant foot at all, very much like Trent Cotchin.)
-Maintain disposal under pressure (He was basically the first, and most highly rated inside midfielder in the draft, if this was a problem, he wouldn't have gone so high)
-Penetration (As you can see there its no problem, he can kick 55+ on both feet)

I loved the way Ziebell kicks both feet, but in my "youtube scouting" he seemed to kick to contests a lot - is this a regular thing? Im pretty sure both will do well.

Ziebell IMO ... though definitely mount arguments for both.

Ziebell has better:

> Footskills ... both very dual sided, but Z much more reliable and better radar (Sidey a bit hit and miss) and more penetration (50m for Sidey, 60m for Z)
> Clearance ability (Sidey good, but Z is elite for a junior in his ability to win the ball from a stop play)
> OH ability (Sidey very good for his height but Ziebell is taller and even better)
> Pace (Z 3.11s 20m Sidey 3.22s 20m, both look quicker on-field ... Z was the one player Hill couldn't get a handle on in U18 champs)
> Tackling (Z an outstanding tackler, Sidey is good, but not at the same level)
> Strength and body size

On the other hand, Sidey has Ziebell covered in:

> 2008 form and injury record (Sidey was one of the best performed players on 2008 form, solid in the U18 champs and standout at the end of TAC cup season, Z was very good ... very impressive in most the U18 championships, but struggled with injuries and dropped off near the end)
> Endurance and 2 way running (Sidey has an elite midfielders engine mid 14s, Z is low 13s).
> Evasion (Sidey tested worse at DC, but his on-field evasion is notably very good, Z isn't, he plays in straight lines, if someone's in his way he'll try and barge his way through him)
> Better vision and more tricks (Z is more about the physical aggression and brute strength and power, Sidey more about the slipperiness and brain)

What on earth are you on about???

I honestly don't see how difficult it is for people to read, but apparently it is. Where did I claim to be more than a youtube scout? Where did I claim to have good knowledge on either player?

I never said Sidebottom was a better kick, I never said Ziebell was. I said that you cannot base your opinion on ONE youtube video like Mario was doing. I then mentioned some different factors that make a person a good kick, which aren't all evident in that little youtube clip. I never claimed Sidebottom possessed those attributes and Ziebell didn't. So how does that increase the hilarity exactly?

Why do I need to take my own advice. I pointed out that it is stupid to claim either to be a better player/better kick when they haven't seen them play properly. Where have I been hypocritical here?

Good on you if you think Mario and the other kid have enough to base their opinion on from their youtube clips. That's your opinion, even if it is a stupid one.

These 2 will probably be compared for the rest of their careers. Surely we can all accept that they are both terrific prospects that will have both North and the Pies salivating over the potential they bring to the table. I love superdrafts.
