Washington Redskins - Broken

Code:
Player Points
-----------------------------
Stephon Tuitt 3
Jack Mewhort 3
Ed Reynolds 1
Brian Stork 3
Deion Belue 0
L'Damian Washington 0

The Skins had to wait a while before they could pick, and unfortunately their draft was not as strong as it could be, with a reach and two unselected players. From their six picks, the Skins scored 10 points, for an average of 1.67 points per pick.

Indianapolis Colts - Dirty Bird

Code:
Player Points
-----------------------------
Demarcus Lawrence 3
James Hurst 0
Kenny Ladler 0
Jeoffrey Pagan 3
Bene Benwikere 4

Like the Skins, the Colts needed to wait a while before they were on the clock, and while they started off well, the way was lost for a little bit, before they finished the draft strongly. From their five picks, the Colts scored 10 points, for an average of 2 points per pick.

So, based on the points system I devised earlier, Striker475 claims the throne of the best mock GM for the 2014 mock BigFooty draft with an average of 4.27 points per pick, slightly ahead of quin_stick, who averaged 4.22 points per pick. Overall, we averaged 2.79 points per pick and the median draft was 2.77 points per pick.

Nice stuff Dixie :thumbsu:

I felt I had a solid, not spectacular draft, with the players I choose. Obviously not according to this (and NFL evaluators).

Would be interested in revisiting this after a season or two.

Nice analysis Dixie Flatline - great work!

My only comment is that the way you calculate the scores favours the teams that pick at the start of the round

the scores:
5 points - within 10 spots in the same round (but selected by a different team)
3 points - for being in the same round but outside 10 picks
3 points - for being within five picks of a pick in a later round

would be better if it was just stated as:

5 points - within 10 spots (but selected by a different team)
3 points - for being within 32 picks but outside 10 picks (but selected by a different team)

Personally, I don't see a player as a reach if that player wasn't available to pick with the teams 's next pick.

A minor point and, apart from the Vic Hampton pick (which was while I was on holiday, and didn't realise he'd been arrested 7 days earlier) I was more than happy with my picks for the Bengals.

-----------------------------
Aaron Donald Simply the best
Allen Robinson Was a star for the Jaguars before going down. Expecting big things in the forseeable future.
Jackson Jeffcoat Did his part for the Cowboys getting a sack to help knock the Eagles out of the playoffs
Anthony Steen Fringe Player/ Practice squad for the Cardinals. Could help in the playoffs.
Christian Kirksey Not as impressive as Borland/ Mosley but good value this deep in the draft.
Tyler Gaffney I/R designated player. Could of done well in the Cowboys.
Brandon Dixon Starting to get some time for the Bucs. Don't know how well he is playing though.
Kasim Edebal Looks like a core player for the future. Already got two sacks in his first season.
Cornelius Lucas Just a project backup with some potential. Too early to tell.
Elhadji Ndiaye *Crickets* Late prospect that didn't keep a roster spot anywhere.

I do love the team I drafted however I can't say for certain whether Zach Martin or Aaron Donald would of been the better choice if the Cowboys had their pick. Overall it's way too early to tell. [/QUOTE]

Kansas City Chiefs - Dagless

Code:
Player Points
-----------------------------
Zack Martin 5
Martavis Bryant 1
Aaron Colvin 5
Devonta Freeman 3
Larry Webster 4
Devon Kennard 3

The Chiefs' mock GM put together one of the better mock drafts this year, with only Bryant standing out as a reach. The Chiefs scored 21 points from their six picks, for an average of 3.5 points per pick.
Well, this would have been quite the draft for the Chiefs...

Cleveland Browns - Blacky

Code:
Player Points
-----------------------------
Teddy Bridgewater 3
Jimmie Ward 3
Kyle Van Noy 5
Brandon Thomas 3
EJ Gaines 1
Carlos Hyde 3
Cody Latimer 4
Andrew Jackson 1
Xavier Grimble 0
Andre Hal 5

Not many outstanding picks for the Browns in the mock draft compared to how the real draft went down. In the mock draft, the Browns took Teddy Bridgewater at #4, overlooking Johnny Manziel, and then parlayed the #26 pick into a number of picks early in the second round. On the flipside, the Browns mocked only one player who was not drafted and two players who could be considered "reaches".

The Browns scored 28 points from their 10 picks in the mock draft, for an average of 2.8 points per pick.
FOr reference

Louis Nix III 1
Bashaud Breeland 1
Trai Turner 5
T.J. Jones 1
Brock Coyle 0
Max Hall 0
Jay Bromley 6

Nix has been on IR all year

Breeland and Turner are going to be 10+ years starters

pretty much nothing else though

Half my picks would have panned out alright in D.C.
Stephon Tuitt would have seen a bit of playing time on our D-line
Jack Mewhort started 14 games for the playoff making Colts.
Brian Stork started his last 9 games for the #1 seed Patriots. He and Mewhort, with Trent Williams, would have helped strengthen the o-line.

The rest are practice squad players : Ed Reynolds (Eagles), Deion Belue (Mia-Pitt-Jax-FA), L'Damian Washington (Dall-SF-NYG-Clev-Mia)
