Albert You Star 9

Looks like you've got it all sewn up Ringadingding.. congrats..

Two rounds to go and still five teams fighting for the four finals spots.

Hurstbridge vs Panton Hill. With plenty to play for the 'Bridges should be able to overcome arch rivals Redbacks.
Lalor vs Diamond Creek. The Bloods to hold onto top spot with a nice win ove rthe Demons.
Mernda vs Whittlesea. The Eagle will breathe easier with a solid win over the Demons after last weeks loss.
Fitzroy Stars vs Thomastown. Massive game that can decide the finalists. Will the real Stars stand up against the Bears. Think they can at home.

interesting to see that Hurstbridge played 8 x 18 year olds on the weekend, scary to think how good they could be if they stay together over the next few years looking forward
Problem is that money talks and bull**** walks. If you keep 4 or 5 of those kids you have done well in this environment.
You may pay these players 100-200 a game give or take today but give them time to develop other clubs will pay 400-600 for the average player and then 800+ to your good players.
Not only that they might want to try VFL levels or a higher division if your not already in div 1.

Add the pensioners moving on and your left with nothing. Its a dangerous game H'Bridge are playing.

Just by playing 18 year olds is not the answer to developing these kids.. The club needs to have a development program for these kids to play to their full potential. Unfortunately they don't. I do fear for their future as from what I have heard they may struggle to field an under 19's team next year. Only time will tell.

Good to see a close competition in this division.Looking at ladder and next weeks last game if Stars beat Panton Hill (which they should unless weather and ground turns nasty)and Whittlesea beat Hurstbridge then Stars go in and Hurstbridge miss out?

Correct. Also if Thomastown get beaten by Lalor (which should happen then they miss out, even if Hurstbridge lose as well. The comp is unbelievably close this year (which is great) just means anyone can win the flag out of the top 5 sides..

Stars haven't been in the top 4 since round 6. Thomastown haven't been out of the top 4 this season and if results go as it looks they might thomastown will probably miss a finals berth which would be very unlucky. For what it's worth I think the final 4 will finish:

Lalor
Whittlesea
Stars
Hurstbridge

big last week of the season, both thomo and hursty will be doing all they can to remain in the top 4. thomo facing lalor the only team they haven't been able to beat all year, while hurstbridge get whittlesea.

i expect both to lose with stars beating panton hill to climb to 3rd on the ladder, the bridges remaining in the 4 purely because of percentage. however, given how the season has gone, would not be surprised at all if thomo got the scalp they need and hurstbridge miss out.

thomo has a better chance of beating the bloods, then the bridges to of whittlesea

I suppose the question is, who would Lalor rather play in the finals, Hurstbridge or Thomastown?

Lalor can't loose the double chance so don't be surprised if Thomo win.
Whittlesea must win to keep the double chance not good for Hurstbridge.
Stars must beat Hill and should do so.

Whittlesea
Lalor
Thomastown
Fitzroy Stars

Hurstbridge

Going to be an interesting weekend, Do they still sell Kegs ;)
Go Stars

Get a grip will you, Lalor wont throw the game! Thomastown is pissing in the wind, if you ask me

Lets just hope Panton Hill are victorious against the Stars, then the best 4 teams across the ENTIRE year do end up in finals. Stars have been good but not consistent enough, tough game against Whittlesea, and had to battle for a while against Thomo.

Lalor might not even have to worry about who finishes 3rd and 4th, they will probably just have 2 showdowns with Whittlesea.

We all gotta have a quick thought on how well Thomo have actually done this year, both seniors and reserves have done things no other side coming up a division has been able to do.

There reserves should play in the grand final, my guess is runners up to Diamond Creek.
At least making finals is a good result for the seniors.

This is a load of shit comment.. Stars have lost 3 games by 7pts or less and drew with Whittlesea (had 10 more scoring shots that day). Could quite easily be a game or two clear on top if those results went there way. Have smashed Thomo the last 2 times they met (55 & 54pts).
