Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

Probably a couple of games i'd say towards the end of the season and no more than 10, IMO.

I would have agreed before hearing Harvey after the Scratchy. If Hill rips it up in the NAB why wouldn't you give him a start in the real stuff? As someone more famous than me said "If you are good enough you are old enough". Palmer sure proved that last year, as have Selwood, Rioli in recent years.

I'm not saying he will play just that I believe he will be given the opportunity to show if he can match it.

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

Is there anything to suggest Mundy will finally breakout this year? He's shown so much promise over the years and sucked many DT'er into buying him only to be disappointed. Will 2009 be any different?

With Bell gone do you expect Schammer to step up into that role? He scored well towards the end of last year which is a good sign. Any chance of him averaging 85-90?

How do you see the new slim Pav going DT wise in the midfield? My other concern with him is that he suffered injuries for the first time in his career last and it was due to the midfield time. Hopefully carrying less weight he will be OK.

How's Ballantyne's wrist going? Any idea if he will be right for RD 1?

Broughten, VB or Deboer any chance of early senior action in '09?

Cheers:thumbsu:

Schammer is looking as good as he ever has, super fit, seems to be over the confidence and injury issues he's had. Expect him to avge 20 - 25 touches a game this year.
Get on him :thumbsu:

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

am i crazy for thinking peake might just step up and be pretty decent value?

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

Foster is suffering from a recurrence of the back injury that kept him out last year. Not looking good as this stage apparently.
Peake is another I would get on. Looked good in the scratchy.

AS the official buddy of Mundy I do not hesitate when I say "he will not just breakout this year, he will dominate."

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

struggling, when fit, is in our best 22 without doubt, but his knee still is not right

Thanks for the info :thumbsu:

Is he in full training atm or has his knee injury got him on a modified program??

he is on a modified program looking to join the main group soonish, the problem apparently isnt his knee itself, it is his shins as a result of his knee... they are saying that he is in a race against time for round one. personally i wouldnt expect much from him untill round 4 onwards as a player like des relies on both his pace, his endurance and his kickking ability... all of which you need strong legs and fitness base for... hope that helps

what are you expecting from didak, ben johnson, leon davis and dale thomas this year... all would be in your top 22 players, your thoughts?

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

the hardest bit of this whole supercoach/dream team thing is finding the cheapies that are going to come good during the season. The top 20 players will probably all give you good returns, so you've got to decide whether you go middle of the range for everyone, or have some big players and take a gamble on the little ones.

Anyone have any tips on who of the new guys (1st or 2nd year may take the step up?) from clubs apart from Fremantle?

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

From Richmond Matty White should step up and bump his average from 15-20 touches to 20-25 touches a game. Would be a good get and should play 22 games for sure. Rance is still only $86,000 and will definitely play this year, wait and see in NAB how he'll go. We'll obviously promote a rookie almost straight away in Polak's place, so whoever that is will be a good get. My money is on Nahas, killed it in the practice match and looks ready to step straight in. Only $84,000.

I've got white in both my sides, as well as dom cassisi(sp?) i think they will both step up next year. Also went for a bit of a roughie/youngen in Dangerfield as a reserve.

Currie (from Sydney) should make a good reserve ruckman.

Along with Ballantyne as a cheap forward, Taylor Walker from the Crows has been heavily hyped up, and with Burton struggling with injury should be a solid bet to play most of the games from Round 1 at a rookie price.

I've also got my eye on Mitch Robinson from Carlton in the midfield. Apparently while teammates were busy beating each other up at the intra-club, he kicked a quiet four goals on the side...

Expect big things from Didak. Has had a really good preseason and looks good. For SC he's pretty cheap for someone who gets as many possies as he does, as well as using them well and kicking goals. Should play mainly HFF. Was leading the league for kicks before getting suspended last year i'm pretty sure.

Leon Davis again looks really good and should continue on from last year. Will play as a centre bounce midfielder and maybe rest up forward. I'm expecting a big year from Davis but i'm not sure if he'll improve much on last year. I'd prefer someone like Priddis for his price.

Alot of people on the Collingwood forum think Daisy will have a breakout year but I disagree. I think his form is unlikely to drop but not sure if he'll really progress heaps this year. Has bulked up alot over preseason but just from watching the game the other night still seems to struggle with fitness a bit. That will keep in the forward line so his possession rate won't increase that much. His disposal is also a little hit and miss at times.

I'm not convinced that Johnson is in our best 22 but thats my bias. I think he'll be in Malthouses 22 which I guess is what counts. Has had a really strong preseason, probably the best at the club, and looks to be his old self again. If he plays he should be played off the HBF pushing forward with the play and get lots of possies. Also gets lots of bounces which is handy in SC. He's an awkward kick but he seems to be pretty effective with it atm like a couple of years ago. Pretty good value at $378,000 but i'm not totally convinced but he might be worth a punt.

Hows Hasleby going atm?? Has he had a good preseason?? What are his chances of doing well this year??

Re: All 2008 dream team questions here please (or else!!).

Will S.Hill be playing much this year cos I need a cheap, consistent defender for on the field (so i can afford Judd in the mid) for DT.

Well he's being very slowly eased into it (and he lacks match practice) so I wouldn't be expecting electrifying NAB Cup results or consistent 80+ scores in the first 5 or 6 rounds... However, if all goes well he should be a solid performer after that and should make you some money.
I'm a bit iffy on him being a keeper, but should make enough money so you can upgrade him later on :thumbsu:

Totally agree with your Didak comments btw, the man loves to kick - DT Star :D

Doubtful. He's been doing really well in pre-sesason training but still needs to bulk up a bit to get a run IMO. Should only see significant action if we get hit by a flood of injuries (and fingers crossed we don't!). However, other posters may disagree with me on this judging from some of the other posts on this forum...
