Its an awesome game, i love the story it makes me want to go and read lord of the rings again. The graphics aren't that flash and the frame rate suffers at times, but apart from that probably my second favorite game of the year after uncharted 2.

Just finished getting the Dwarves on board and have all the cities ready to fight. Now it says to go and see what the Nobles are thinking or something?
After speaking to Eamon You do a few quests (alienage, get Loghain's daughter out of prison, free some other people in prison) so you can get enough votes to win the Landsmeet.

Great game!

Have already spent far too much time with this, and I'm itching to give it yet another playthrough while the holidays are here - haven't played anything this compulsive in ages.

It's not without it's faults though. Nothing too serious, but there's quite a few things I'd like to see touched up in the next game in the series...

-The Hair

This is getting beyond a joke now, it's almost 2010 now and you shouldn't be allowed to get away with this shit anymore. People walking around with rock hard bowl cuts, they must have had to use concrete for mousse back in the middle ages or some shit. There's only 1 good female haircut too, and none for the blokes so you might as well just give him a buzz cut. And there's only like 5 different cuts to go around anyway so it gets awkward. Like when my Mage was talking to the First Enchanter and we both had the exact same haircut/beard ensemble and neither of us would mention it, it was a bit of a elephant in the room. And speaking of beards FFS is it that hard to NOT MAKE THEM CLIP THROUGH ARMOUR! Distracting when some Dwarf dude is trying to give me some important hints about my quest and I can't stop looking at his footlong moustache of +5 armour piercing stabbing himself in the chest and shit. I don't know why the important characters and your character can't have unique haircuts anyway, leave this other shit to the peasants. Check out the Trailer that is included with this game! It's full of prerendered stuff and looks FAR better than the shit we're stuck with in the game. It looks like a ****ing Pantine commercial or something. So yeah that should change next time please, i think.

-The Talking

Christ people rabbit on in this game. It's alright when someone is trying to flesh out your quest a bit, it's no good when you just want to buy a axe and the merchant goes off on a tangent about some shit, or when you try and pick up some loot and accidentally click on Wynne and she starts dribbling shit about your responsibilities as a grey warden or something

-The Sex

Got a wierdass sex scene with Morrigan the other week, I was playing as a Dwarf and there was all this stirring music while my midget punded her from about 15 different positions. Naked Morrigan is creepy too with her hot face and her scary as shit marionette body that doesn't move properly. And I don't know why she chose to wear a bra while we were GETTING IT ON, i mean she'd been hanging out her sideboob like a tramp all quest, jiggling them around in my face and shit, but when it came to the crunch she was frigid! They should have let me root that hot warewolf woman IMO she would have gone off

Also on relationships, I think Bioware are VERY cynical when it comes to this kind of thing:

*Morrigan rooted me once, then gave me a ring and ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to have sex with me again even though I gave her jewelry and killed her mum for her. But then she felt like getting knocked up so she humped me one last time then buggered off forever, presumably with my child support payments.

*Apparently you can GET IT ON with Liliana, I don't know, you have to sit there for HOURS listening to her rabbit on about her shoe fetish and other such rubbish. I think I messed up somewhere along the line becuase She wouldn't have HOT LESBO ACTION with me and I ran out of dialogue options towards the end. Still though I got to pash her like 5 times so that is okay. I'm just glad there is a 'skip dialogue' option though, otherwise I wouldn't have had the patience to even get that far. If only real life had a skip dialogue option when it comes to THE LADIES! AM I RIGHT FELLAS?! No seriously, am I right? I really don't know, I've never spoken to a girl outside of MSN messenger :(

*Also you can root Alistair but it's not easy, he's an insecure 20-something virgin who hides his inadequecies behind a thin veil of self depreciating humour and struggles in intimate situations. Well I certainly don't know any people like that. Least of all me. Can't relate at all.

*The homosexual elf keeps going on about how he likes to sniff leather and other creepyass stuff, no way I am having sex with him

Maybe next time around there could be more sex partners who don't leave you feeling dirty or used or bored or incapable of lancing a virgin

-The Bells Palsy
Early in the game, Flemeth said something funny then laughed at her own joke and it scared the hell out of me, I hope they fix everyone's waxwork cyborg looking heads next time and let their faces be a bit expressive. Maybe then they won't need to wave their arms around like douches everytime they want to emphasise something

So yeah I would like to see those things changed next time if possible.

By the way, I reckon in the next game it will turn out that Duncan is still alive, but like a bit Darkspawnish or something, and there will be a Desire Demon who will join your party, I reckon she will be a bit like Fall From Grace out of Planescape except with tassles on her nipples

Go for the Natural Bodies mod if you want the sex scenes to look decent (or if you just take amusement in having a nudist party).

I'm really hating the combat in this game. The Anvil part is incredibly frustrating, because it's a long battle as it is, and you have to constantly pause to micromanage everything.

I just finished the game. Very fun... I enjoyed it very much. The character depth was awesome, and the combat system was great. It got a little too easy though (I was playing on Nightmare mode). My main was a dwarf tank, using Zev and two mages (Morrigan and Wynne).

Spoilers: Crowd control is everything in this game, if you have mass paralysis/sleep/nightmare/force field then it gets a little too easy. Crushing prison is also awesome, as is inferno (especially if your tank can survive it with several on him). But that's not what is OP - it's a cun/dex rogue dual wielding daggers with that attack speed buff. Assassin's mark + Death Hex + frost/fire or armour pen buff and he will cut through the elite bosses easily.

I'm going to play through it again sometime soon to see the other alternate storylines - this time with one mage though. And the dog. He's pretty cool.

Lol, no you don't. Just situate your party behind one of the anvils, hold them in place and let them auto-kill the spirit that spawns. Kill them one at a time, the others will just stand in place but don't go too close.

Has anyone tried the downloadable content?

I have to try and complete this thing soon, been quite busy lately so my play time has decreased quite substantially.

I'm in the same boat. Played it flat out for the first 2-3 days and haven't touched it once in almost a month due to the crazy festive season. Also partly because I was up to a battle in the game where I kept getting utterly destroyed after several attempts. It's the one where some chick asks you to come help her caravan and you end up getting ambushed.

That's where you're introduced to Zevran, isn't it?

with regard to the d/l content. Shale is worth it IMO, pretty funny and a useful party member if you use him. Soldiers Peak was pretty shitty, yeah its extra stuff and some baller sword, but it was to short.

Her.

I didn't like that NPC in Soldier's Peak.

You can get the Awakening expansion pack in EB's current 2 for $50 promotion, in case anyone is interested.

I've only played it for half an hour or so, to see how it was; no surprises, looks to be more of the same, as you would expect

Before giving it a proper razz, I'll have to play the original through again though, deleted my old saves or a fit of boredom, along with everything else on my hard drive, a month or so ago. Ah well

HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY DRAGON AGE!

I've spent so much times on these games, particularly origins, and romancing Alistair. I can't believe it's so old, yet something I still love to occasionally pick up & run through again, even though I've played every single ending.

Bioware's been putting some a fair bit of stuff on their twitter lately, celebrating the anniversary, and hinting of the next game.

That's some thread necromancy!

They confirmed like two or three E3s ago of another DA. Not sure how much of the old team are around, if any. Apparently they have already rebooted the project at least once too. I liked Inquisition more than what a lot of others did but Origins is still untouchable.
