Not that bad but just comparing him to Thomas.
If you go to the Collingwood Family Day, Dale Thomas is like the second coming with his popularity.
Pendles haircut sux at the moment, better change it before finals

Agree with this.
To get a top shelfer, GC17 had to pay $1.9m a season to Ablett and promise to draft his brother, and they could then only manage to scrape up some handy players, Bock, Brennan, Rischa and some duds, Krakouer, Fraser and Brown.
GWS will have to pay one guy a huge amount to be interested and then get a few disgruntled players looking for an extra 100k or so a season.
Don't forget though, GWS has an extra year to sign up out of contract players, so they might not take a lot of players first time around.

Selwood won't leave Geelong and Clark has never WANTED to leave Brisbane. He approached the club to offer himself as a trade option back to Perth IF they needed to find cap space. He did not actually WANT to leave at all.
The player that I think GWS is most likely to target from the Eagles is Lynch. He doesn't really have a set position at the Eagles at the moment and, if Lycett, Wilson and others with whom he is competing for a spot in the team show improvement, he might be pursueded to go to GWS as he would be assured of getting a game there. I hope I am wrong, but it looks possible to me.
Everyone, teenager, young adult, senior citizen should be focused on life and maximizing their earning potential.
That is so sad that you think this. Far more to life than money. Money is only one of many factors. FAmily, work life balance, intergrity etc etc all come into it too.
Who could have already signed one with GWS?
Crows - Taylor Walker
Lions - Daniel Rich
Blues - Marc Murphy
Pies - Scott Pendlebury
Bombers - Paddy Ryder
Dockers - Garrick Ibbotson
Cats - James Bartel
Hawks - Ben Stratton
Demons - Liam Jurrah
Roos - Todd Goldstein
Power - Danyle Pearce
Tigers - Alex Rance
Saints - Ben McEvoy
Swans - Heath Grundy
Eagles - Mitch Brown
Dogs - Josh Hill
I reckon I have a couple already correct
If I have 4 - 5 right by 2012 it'll be amazing ...![]()
I reckon he will go. It would be similar to the Krakouer deal last season with Port trying to persuade Krakour to stay even though he wasnt in the 22. If GWS is interested in him, He will go. Since He just turned 28 a month ago, Lynch would be a good fit for GWS: a good goal kicker that has at least 2-4 years left in him. Since Gold Coast only gave pick 26 to get a 27 year old bock, Im guessing GWS will give west coast 30 or 35.
I said "focused on life and maximizing their earning potential"
That is 2 different things
Focusing on life encompasses family, balance, integrity, socialisation, play, hobbies, etc.

BTW, I did this on Bay13
I've hard a whisper GWS have advanced technology and have been able to create super players from the DNA from the following players:
Leight Matthews
John Coleman
Wayne Carey
Stephen Silvagni
Gary Ablett
Just to name a few...
Pick the odd one out.
Christ, Silvagni would be lucky if he didn't have 20 goals kicked on him per game these days with the amount of scragging he used to do.
Most overrated player of all time, in any sport, bar none.
You know, I've always defended Sheeds, but if he's looking to clone Silvagni, then he truly has lost the plot.![]()

I believe Whispers on this.
So if GWS has signed a heads of agreement with 5 players, who are they?
Now remember, they can deny signing a contract with GWS as they haven't, they have signed an agreement to sign a contract. Same effect as they can't get out of it, but gives plausible deniability.
The pressure will build on any unsigned talent from May onwards. We all know what happened last year. All the GC signings were a done deal in October the previous year.
I'll go with:
Scully
I'm sorry Dees fans, devastating and all, but (with the exception of Alistair Clarkson), anyone who "puts off contract negotiations to the end of the year" has already left. Ironic due to obvious tanking required to get him. From memory Hawthorn extended the Buddy, Roughy and Lewis contracts after the first year. Pretty standard thing to do with a young gun player.
Murphy
Very highly rated player. Must be getting paid below market rates due to Judd's huge salary too. Ironic due to obvious tanking required to get him. Really should've been a Lions father/son pick too.
Rich
Very confident on this one. Vossy seems to think he can pay Fev a million to "piss up against a wall" and all the players will be cool with it.
Palmer
Be a real shame for the Dockers too.
A Collingwood player
I'm sure they got one if they really wanted one.
It'd be a real shame if one of the clubs that lost a player to GC loses one to GWS as well... Hopefully the pain is spread around.
Of those 5 options above, Brisbane would be most devastated... they've lost a few players already...
Maybe the Hawks were tanking in 2009 and 2010 to discourage GC and GWS from pinching our players...
Only a fool thinks otherwise
Everyone, teenager, young adult, senior citizen should be focused on life and maximizing their earning potential.
Any young potential footballing superstar is only one bad injury away from the scrap heap.
They not only owe it to themselves, they owe it to their current and future family to do the right thing.
A Gold Coast or GWS mega contract is the one sure path to achieving lifetime financial security, irrespective of any career damaging future injury/ies.
You would be naive to think or do otherwise.
Remember, loyalty in football is a thing of the past, list size and salary cap has ensured that. If a club has no further use for you, you will discarded faster than you can say Jack Robinson.
That is an empty statement because you don't factor in the problem that you usually can't maximise your earning potential without affecting what you call "life". You describe a utopian existence with no compromises.
If a player decided that moving to Western Sydney would impact his "life" negatively, he might forego the extra dollars and stay where he is. Your statements suggest that he would be "irresponsible" not to take the best financial deal. You are contradicting yourself. If you come back and say that yes, you have to consider the life balance when weighing up money, then I'd agree with you, but you would have to retract your statements about "irresponsibility".
Whispers strike rate has been off a bit I've noticed since late last season, and I certainly don't think Dane Swan is one of them. He is very close with his Collingwood teammates, as he said many times, and Chris Tarrant is one of his best mates and has returned to the club. He is out of the age range of GWS, and he will be eligible for Collingwood's veteran list soon, so he will earn plenty then.3AW Whispers were reporting that Greater Western Sydney had already signed 5 players from other Clubs.
The GWS does not have the same hope at all of getting a big name player like Gold Coast has. The two biggest names that Gold Coast got were Gary Ablett, and it was easy for him to leave because his brother and father live there. They also got Michael Rischetelli who was already living on the Gold Coast I think, and Jarred Harbrow is also a Queenslander, yet I can't think of any big name player that has ties to the western suburbs of Sydney. You are in denial if you think BIG names aren't going to GWS.
You obviously haven't thought about it deeply enough, because I think that is very, very, very unlikely. I can't imagine any Collingwood player choosing to leave before experiencing playing under Nathan Buckley and with the prospects of more team success.Unfortunately a Pies player probably.

No I'm not. I'm logical and confident in my opinion. If you disagree though, then go right ahead and give your reasons. Again, I think GWS is going to find it much harder than Gold Coast to get big names. You're naive.

That's why I don't think they're going to get any players of the calibre that Gold Coast got. Despite the recent weather conditions, there is no doubt that the Gold Coast is a more desirable location than western Sydney too.You are right about Whisper's rumours being off the mark at the tail end of 2010, and probably right about GWS needing to work harder than the GC to attract players.
Yes, but there were reasons for that. As I've said, Gary Ablett has family connections on the Gold Coast, and he had a strained relationship with his coach, and most of all he was seen with Gold Coast officials before last season started, so the rumour regarding him had a base. Michael Rischetelli already lives there and was clearly disillusioned with Brisbane after being sent to Melbourne to look at Carlton's facilities as part of the Fev deal.Bear in mind that players linked to GC at this time last year - were the names who signed.
I think this is far more likely than any big name player. We also know that GWS have suggested that they probably won't go after the one big fish - Gary Ablett - But are more likely to grab 2 smaller fish.
I don't know enough about Essendon's uncontracted players, but I don't think a big name from Collingwood will go for the reasons I gave above. And we dont know whether a Collingwood or Essendon player will sigh with GWS - That is hopeful guesswork at this stage.
Whispers strike rate has been off a bit I've noticed since late last season, and I certainly don't think Dane Swan is one of them. He is very close with his Collingwood teammates, as he said many times, and Chris Tarrant is one of his best mates and has returned to the club. He is out of the age range of GWS, and he will be eligible for Collingwood's veteran list soon, so he will earn plenty then.
The players that GWS may have signed already are most likely 25 years of age and younger, and I don't think that includes any important Collingwood players. There are not many players that would sign with a new club straight after just winning a premiership, and most of Collingwood's players want to stay to experience playing under Nathan Buckley in 2012.
Scott Pendlebury knows he is the next captain of Collingwood so he will stay, and Dale Thomas has stated a number of times that he wants to be a one club player, so he will too. Collingwood's total player payments is also pretty low due to the very timely retirement of a number of experienced and well paid players after last season.
Nathan Bock probably wanted to leave Adelaide for anonymity reasons because he is known as wife basher there, and to earn more money at his age. A deal was done to trade Campbell Brown to Port Adelaide by Hawthorn twelve months earlier, before pressure from members ended that, so he was always likely to leave. Finally, Gold Coast is a much more desirable living environment than the western suburbs of Sydney, so I think they will struggle to get a big name player. You obviously haven't thought about it deeply enough, because I think that is very, very, very unlikely. I can't imagine any Collingwood player choosing to leave before experiencing playing under Nathan Buckley and with the prospects of more team success.
I can't see any young player leaving Melbourne, Richmond, or even Carlton either when these teams have hopes of future success, although I can understand how Marc Murphy was been mentioned. If GWS has already signed five players, then I suspect it is from a club that is still a fair way from a premiership, or on the downward trend. The biggest name I can think of is possibly Jimmy Bartel, then maybe a player like Daniel Rich or Taylor Walker.
Bear in mind that players linked to GC at this time last year - were the names who signed.
I don't think Swan, Pendlebury or Thomas will go to GWS, but I haven't thought too much about other Collingwood players. I truly don't think that GWS are going to get a big name player like Gold Coast did, and I think the biggest names will come from a club that the player feels is more likely in a decline.Really just a load of speculation full of unsubstantiated but very hopeful statements about why Collingwood players would stay, but others, like Bartel, Murphy or Walker for example might leave.
