Re: 2012 Trade Targets

So you wouldn't be interested in Butcher - a young, highly rated KPF?

Pearce would add the outside class and speed that we lack. He would flourish in a side where we wasn't tagged every week.

Sam Gilbert's a quality 24yo rebounder defender. He would be perfect for us. Admittedly he's the least likely of that list to be available.

I think Morton would be worth a try in a role off HB for us. Ellis likewise.

O'Meara's probably slightly more highly rated than Scully was at the same age. Every club will make a play for the #1 pick in the mini draft.

Haven't seen any of Butcher since he's been in Adelaide. How's he going? He may have been a 1st rd pick 3 years ago, but is this still valid?

I don't understand the Pearce fascination. Yeah he's slick but I'd reckon he's be the first player to go missing when the heat turns up.

Gilbert wouldn't be going anywhere and would cost too probably more than he is worth.

Ellis and Morton are squibs

By all reports O'Meara has huge potential. Given this I'd welcome him at North, but I wouldn't deliberatley weaken our squad to get any untried 17yo with potential. And that is all he is at the moment.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

if we target a 17 year old via the GWS mini draft then i would rather it be ben kennedy or emmanuel irra. They are both SA boys, kennedy is very similar to boomer and Irra is a speedy midfielder that has a lot of natural talent.

most clubs will be going for the first pick in the mini draft to get omeara but we should go after the 2 i mentioned above.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

If we rate the talent in the draft and think we can get quality with our first two picks it is unlikely we will trade away our picks.

The club says they wont trade Monster so there is no point throwing him up as possible trade bait, it is a waste of time even on a forum if it is never going to happen.

Heading more towards the realm of realism, according to some articles John Butcher isn't happy at Port and he is a country Victorian boy who is a pretty good marking forward, some question about his efficiency with his finishing but if he wanted to return home and we have some guys we plan to move on who aren't getting a fair crack with us then it might be someone worth having a look at.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

pearce woukld be a + for north pace is what we need.

I haven't watched much of Port this year, isn't he a bit of a downhill skier who goes missing when the heat is on? Maybe I am thinking about the 2010 version.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

Xavier Ellis is a gun.
Wouldnt mind Ellis if we could get him swapping a player or 2 who is surplus to requirements.

Bugger trading high picks though. We need to keep drafting young talent, there is no better way to ensure success long term.

I dont want any player who wont be at or nearing their peak in 3+ years if we are losing picks to get him. Anyone 26+ is a waste of time IMO.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

Ellis has a vagina.

Any chance we wrestle Deledio away from the Tiges or Shaw from the Pies for Hamish?

I don't think that would be an impossible sell if we were prepared to give up a good pick in a (supposedly) weak draft.

Both would be huge for us.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

Deledio is a cat. Has both a vagina and a small penis too.

Gross.

He is a gun. He is not a full midfielder, and he has been Richmonded, but he would thrive off HBF for us and be a huge piece in the puzzle to challenge.

And we have a top 5 AFL ruck to dangle in front of them, HArdwick needs some results...

Nah, considering what he costs and the hype, he is no where near where he should be. Not saying he is shit, but he's not a guy I want to go trading gun players (ie Hamish) and good draft picks for. If we are going to part with that much, I'd want better in return.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

Man I'd love to some how compromise a deal with the Tigers in order to get Deledio over. Not only does he have excellent kicking skills, a great tank, pace, and class but he's versatility would allow us to rotate him through the midfield and more importantly across half back where he can provide solid rebound without turning the ball over.

At 24 I still think his best footy is ahead of him, and with the development of Daw I don't think we can afford to play H-Mac with Goldstein as our no #1 ruckmen.

As for Pearce, no thanks. front runner of the highest order. No wonder Port are in trouble, they recruited too many outside hacks that can't handle the hard stuff and go missing when the going gets tough..

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

You can forget Richmond giving Lids up.

Only possible way, is if he decided that Richmond weren't going in the direction he'd hoped and sought opportunity elsewhere.

If that were to occur, then you can count on all clubs trying to secure his services.

You have to make a bold move in this situation.

He has every tool. Needs bit more urgency, but he is a sensatinal HBF.

He may not have lived up to the hype, but neither had Wells until this year. He is 24, it wil click and the best years will come.

I love Hamish and think it could still work with him and Goldy, but it would work even better with Deledio in our rotation.

Your dreaming if you think Richmond are going to part with Deledio.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

WTF?

I'm getting tired of this trade Hamish bullshit.

He is in our best 5 players. Wait for him to come back and prove how good he is.

Just on this subject yesterday Drew was on Triple M and talking all things North, he was asked who he thought would be leading our B&F.He answered Goldy and then went onto say how Goldy & him can change through FF & the ruck, but everytime he asked Goldy if he needs a spell he'll say nah I'm fine.

So not sure what that means regarding Hmac.You/we can say whateva we like & rate players which ever way we feel. But come seasons end North have a serious list management issue to deal with.

I personally feel it could harm both Goldy & Hmac form to be part time rucks. But hey it's just my opinion.

Probably, but targeting players that clubs want to part with is a waste of time.

I watched about 15 minutes of the Port Magpies' Foxtel Cup semi final on Saturday and saw Butcher take a mark 30m out, very slight angle. He waddled in and kicked it like the hinges had come loose in his knee and ankle joints, spraying it waaaaaaaaaaaay wide. I was watching with interest, knowing his name had been raised here, and with that one kick, and kicking action, the air was duly bursting out of my enthusiasm balloon at double speed.

That vision, and the vision shown pre his draft where he took huge marks and kicked like a spud, are all I've seen of him.

I myself was rather keen on getting butcher, the way injury has hit him we may have dodged the proverbial.

Not saying he wont end up having an awesome career but you get the feeling things wont be easy on him.

Re: 2012 Trade Targets

I want Fevola.I know he has been stupid in the past but imagine him and Petrie in the Fwd line.I know most ppl on here will hate the thought but maybe we could show him that with rules and no stuffing around he could end his carreer on a good note.Be brave North.
