But of course no-one on BF singles out the Crows for receiving sponsorship from a company involved in price-fixing, despite that company being the one that instigated the price-fixing.
It will be hidden and out of sight on the Bay in Ant_'s thread....

Ha!

The Age is reporting the AFL is looking into Van Berlo's contract too

they're screwed!

This could get really ugly !!!

Second Crow faces probe

A SECOND Adelaide player has become embroiled in the club's salary cap scandal, with the Crows under investigation for third-party payments made to captain Nathan van Berlo outside the salary cap.
Already facing major sanctions over third-party arrangements made for Kurt Tippett, Adelaide may now face further penalties over a deal set up for van Berlo that may breach the AFL's payment rules.

The club, which confessed to its secret arrangements with Tippett late in last month's trade period, has insisted that those alleged breaches were an exception to its ''exemplary'' compliance with AFL rules.
Fairfax Media can also reveal that four companies were involved with the third-party payments brokered for Tippett in an effort to convince the forward to remain in Adelaide.

Only Carlton cheats !!

Soft effort AFL. Soft effort.

Pathetic effort.

We were smacked on the eve of the 2002 draft and were NOT given the opportunity to prepare submissions and that luxury has been afforded to Adelaide. !!!

does anyone else get the feeling that they will only get a slap on the wrist for this (fist waving)

Tippett considering legal action now.
Won't be able to be delisted in time for preseason draft (list lodgement 3 is November 29) as new commission date will be in December.

The fact that Adelaide officials are now employing separate legal representatives could also be indicators of more severe charges.

I wouldn't be pleased if I were an Adelaide supporter.
Pick 20 will be a new kid but 54 will redraft Joyce and their next pick will upgrade Callinan. Not exactly star recruits.

Got to make your own luck in this world ladies and gentlemen...
No.

You should be used to the AFL making it up and playing favourites.

Carlton was told that the Visy deal counts in the cap without even be advised about why they've acted.

Yet they don't have time to investigate a deal they were unaware that even existed.

What does Ken Wood do?

It was the same with Phil Scully.

The Age broke the story they would rather see go away.

The muppets didn't hesitate to hit us with an eleventh hour decision.

It's more a case of who you are, not what you've done.

I'd like to see the AFL try and embed someone at Norf, the Dogs or Port like they did with Carlton when we were struggling off the field.

What's consistency in the AFL? Consistently making up stuff as they go
We all know Demetriou only handed a harsh penalty to Carlton as a backhander to disgraced president John Dorman Elliott.

Adelaide will most likely walk away with a slap on the wrist in losing only next year's first rounder with a fine.

No.......

Yep - I always expect silliness from the AFL - we should plan for this and make ourselves as silly proof as possible - that is what I meant by my post.

I agree with posters who are saying

1. Adelaide don't get much from THIS draft; and (more importantly)
2. Adelaide are in serious SHIT - more serious than prior to this postponed hearing.

Also I expect to see significant changes to salary cap as well as player contracts (like Judd's with Visy) and also - changes to draft in due course - probably a move to lottery/ballot system and the removal of AFL 'disretionary priority picks etc..

All in good time.

One final thing - I think Anderson is now likely a walking dead man as far as future AFL boss goes.

All good news.

Query over Selwood deal :thumbsu:

Yes I know it's Caro

JOEL Selwood has become the subject of AFL scrutiny, with one of the Geelong captain's third-party agreements the subject of debate between the league's investigations manager Ken Wood and Selwood's management.

As Carlton captain Chris Judd prepared to take his case to the AFL's grievance tribunal, a Selwood sponsorship remains in the balance, along with several other employment and third-party deals being scrutinised by the league.

The Selwood arrangement, which, despite speculation, does not involve Cats sponsor Cotton On, has not yet been resolved. His manager, Tom Petroro, refused to comment on the dispute on Friday while Cats football boss Neil Balme said he had no knowledge of any issue. The AFL said in a statement that third-party agreements remained the subject of scrutiny.

How can the AFL be that incompetent?

You only need to look at who it's run by.

End of story. ;)

By the same token AFL do nothing more than sit on their hands and wait for the court of media opinion, as it has done for 130 years.

Notice Caro has been getting all Woodward & Bernstein lately. which looks great on the CV.
.....what with Fairfax going down the toilet, and the still vacant Chief Football Writer at the Hun still open.
