Garlett is a better talent than Sheed, weather you would use a first round pick is debatable at this stage.
I rather have Acres on our list than Sheed at this stage.
Sheed is one paced but is a good kick and kicks goals as a mid, he also has great smarts.
Sheed will be very good but is similar, to what we have, and we need pace.

Could it be argued that Sheed is the type of player we'd draft to replace Kerr and Priddis in two-three years time or is he more of a second touch inside midfielder than the extractor that those guys have been for us in their later years? Whereas Acres/Garlett offer us players who can work well enough on the inside while using blistering pace on the outside?

Whilst outside pace and spread is a problem, we also need quality players for the coal face as Shuey, Masten and Wellingham are all inside players who work better as second touch players IMO than the extractor-type. Longterm Kerr and Priddis isn't going to cut it, but neither is it working short term too IMO. Scooter's close to the type we need in there but a second/third player to help out there would be beneficial.

Sorry, I am not sure if that's sarcasm or not (I don't care either way, I'm not sensitive about footy opinions), but from what I've heard about Sheed so far, someone with his vision and smarts, no matter how one paced he seems to be, shouldn't be the one at the bottom of the pack dishing it out.

Nah I wasn't, sorry. Agreed with all you said.

He's kind of like a more inside version of Gaff. Damages more with run and carry the actually extracting the ball.

I think Selwood's clearance work is underrated. He's been lacking some serious hurt factor with the ball in hand this season however. Hopefully he recovers soon because this was an important development year for him.

The way I think of Scooter this year is while disposal and decision making has gone substantially backwards, his workrate, positioning and ability to find the ball has almost become elite. That he has been able to do it whilst doing comprehensive shutdown jobs as well is pretty amazing.

It hasn't quite come together this year, but another year and I think he'll get there.

Josh Kennedy's grand father was a premiership player/coach with Hawthorn...Garry Ablett Jr was a father son pick...

Before he was drafted, was it Yarren that stated he'd rather stay in WA because his father was in gaol? Not sure if this is still applicable but if it is, would be a huge draw for him to come home.

Is he out of contract at the end of the year? If by chance he does want to come home and Carlton screws us at the trade table, could ask him to nominate for the pre-season draft and hope he falls our way Tippett style? Would be an awesome pick-up

Think yarran would be an ideal fit at west coast, we have 2 things going our way too, 1) he is a WA boy 2) he is getting no love from mick. Hopefully he is very disgruntled would provide pace and accurate kicking which we need.

Should consider Harry Marsh if he doesn't get a gig. Sydney drafted him as a midfielder and he's got a lot of players ahead of him at the moment.

Agree, dont think giving up a first round pick would benefit us as there will be some great top end talent in the draft this year, would probably need a player plus a second rounder to do it.

The demand for Boyd could prove very interesting given there will be other clubs in the bidding. I cant see Carlton offering as much as you have suggested, and deals that involve contracted players have a propensity to turn horribly wrong.
