If Adelaide wants to piss off Walker by trading his friend so that Brodie Smith's can get to the club, great.

I love this part of big footy just for comments like that.

Whilst trading Vince wouldn't make Tex ecstatic, he is a big boy and he'll get over it, it isn't like he doesn't have any friends.

It's like when your best friend left school, sure it hurts for a day but you have other friends, unless Tex is a massive loner at Adelaide...which for some reason i seriously doubt.

To be clear though it's Rowey who coined Melbourne's Pick 20 for the aging Vince right ?

Pick # 20 for Vince??? Then again Melbourne are the National draft specialists, nobody does it better then them.

Melbourne need harden bodies, not draft picks.

Yeah, i can why both clubs would be interested in that trade.

How the * are there ten pages in this thread from today alone? Has anything actually happened yet, or just more hypotheticals/crap?

When did Bernie Vince get a hardened body?

Yeah, i had trouble writing that as well.

Pick 20 is fantasy land for Vince :thumbsu:

Overs on our side yes due to age and a degenerative knee, however it wouldn't surprise me, Melbourne are desperate for experienced players and we are desperate for draft picks, so you can see how this trade would get done.

Make no mistake, Vince is exactly the type of player Roos likes, just like Mattner was but Roos only pays top dollar for big name players.
Having said if Melbourne end up with a surplus of top picks he will easily use a second rounder for Vince. How many picks has Roos got to play with atm?
Normal first round, no compo pick for being poo poo, normal second round and most likely an end of second round for Sylvia.
From trades or proposed trades?

Melbourne need experience desperately. This is a club that are truly on its knees in a very competitive market. There isn't a "star" player that would go to Melbourne right now, it would be career suicide so you'd probably find they are going to overpay the mid tier players like Vince.

Roos is there for a quick fix come the end of the day, which i find really weird there isn't much talk for pick 2, if there is ever a time you could get it "cheaply" this is the time with Melbourne.

No roos is there for the $$$$$
Perhaps but he will follow the same recipe that worked for him at Sydney. Grunts, grunts and more grunts with a few stars here and there. However the grunts need to be reliable players that completely buy into his game plan.

EDIT: By grunts I mean players that are willing to get the work done without the need to be stars, so no disrespect intended.

Absolutely Paul Roos is using a pick that could give him Crouch/ Sheed/Dunstan in the draft to pick up Burnie because that's in the best interest of Melbourne ....;)

This is from a player manager and Steven Rowe ....5aa's Steven Rowe:confused:

That is a fair question, however I am not sure these threads are the right threads for this type of discussion, or at least not for a balanced discussion as there is a bit of banter involved.
FWIW he is a decent enough player but IMO not a first rounder when it comes to trading.

I think the biggest difference between the 2 Polec threads has more to do with what picks are expected to be received by trading which player.
IMO neither Port nor the Crows have too many players they can trade for first rounders and all of them would be not negotiable.

In your opinion is Ebert a first rounder trade wise? Personally I am not so sure, same goes for Broadbent, Stewart and many more. The AFC players mentioned so far are not better than these three yet somehow even pick 2 has been mentioned.
Ebert is def a first rounder
Broadbent high second
Stewart third round

I'm not worried about who said it, it does make sense.

This is a club that literally on life support. They can't afford to be holding onto the mantra of "building for the future" because the last 6 years have been an utter failure.

You can't sit at the bottom forever clinging onto the hope that tomorrow will be better, they haven't hired Roos now so that they can cling onto the "tomorrow will be better", they have hired Roos because they have realized that they can't afford another 2013.

The only way Melbourne are going to get better is via getting players in, any elite or most B grade players won't go there, even for more money. Why we are attractive to Melbourne is we need to get rid of B grade players to get back in the draft which we have signaled as a goal... Vince has probably seen the writing on the wall and Melbourne are glad they can get another midfielder.

Even if Rowey said it, logically this is a trade that does make sense.

s**t, while the Melbourne train is still boarding B grade players, let's offload our B and C-grade players!!

Mitchell and P. Stew come on down!

Will they go though? That said, they'd attract overs from Melbourne now because it has to happen.

Simply put, there isn't any more development years left for them. If Roos goes with Melbourne on the bottom, it'll be the death knell for Melbourne as a football club.

Just to validate what i said....

I don't believe it personally, however if Ralph who wants to be considered as a respectable journo believes that this is a possibility (his source seems dodgy however) then they are in a lot worse position then first thought (i.e that death knell might be coming a lot sooner then the end of Roos contract)
