I know Australia's military is not top draw, but for jeff dunne to make out Indonesia needs 1 boat to stop incursions into their waters, now we know his full of shit , j roo was right to keep questioning him on his knowledge, jeff dunne reminds me of a guy who turns up on Anzac day , joins the march with his fake medals, but never been near an army base in his life

That is a dreadful post. JDunne isn't a dunce either. I'm not sure how football alliance has any impact on this argument.

you are a bit late, noddy has said prior that he was displeased with what I posted, try and keep up

So you are in effect calling Jeff a fraud.

Sorry to break this to you, but he's the wrong target for that sort of accusation.

I've been around this site a long time, as has he, and he is neither a fraud nor lacking in knowledge for that matter.

o'kay man , I never called him a fraud, I've never seen him on the forum before , the vibe I got from reading the posts was he never ever answered a query directly, he seemed to avoid a questions he didn't like, and made a big reach when he said Indonesia only needed 1 boat to keep incursions out of their waters, I know this as blatant overreach , but hey if he is a former veteran and took offence my apologies, ( ps this a newie for you guys to come to the defence of a former military person, normally these persons are non grata with you luvvies)

I think you need to re-read your analogy ross. That's precisely what you were calling him.

jesus man , how many times do you want me to address it, why do you keep on , first noddy, then you and sherb now you again , I suggest you read my responses, I cant keep rehashing it with you

I never called him a fraud, I queried his responses and his refusal to answer direct questions, but I don't think I can ever convince you, as you have made up your mind

Ad hominem

How do you describe these people Ross? You clearly have no respect for them.

As to what Jeff actually posted I think he's right. If Indonesia deployed one naval vessel in the waters off Java and it put itself between our navy and any vessels in its territorial waters until they crossed into our waters then what would we do? Fire upon them? Not likely.

brown bottle, I really don't care one way or the other about people who march on Anzac day who have never been in the army, its something I wouldn't do, they are only deluding themselves, it their choice to do so, they aren't harming anyone but they may need analysing to get to bottom of why they have this need, you should really be directing that question at veterans , which I am not , they might have a stronger opinion on the issue

You think JeffDunne was right in stating that the "Indonesians have the capability to defeat the ADF"?

Do you also think JeffDunne was right in saying that the ADF would "struggle to destroy their (Indonesia's) air defences"?

Do you also think JeffDunne was right in saying the "US refused to allow us to use in combat operations with them (our F18 Hornets)", when in actual fact the fourteen RAAF Hornets flew over 670 sorties during the war, including 350 combat sorties over Iraq.

So you also think JeffDunne is right in saying our supplying F18 's to provide escorts for their in refueling aircraft is "simply helping the Yanks carry their shopping".

Do you think JeffDunne was right in saying our F18 "Flying bombing missions where there is zero chance of being shot out of the sky is a training exercise not what I would call "combat", when the reality is coalition aircraft where being lost to combat from being shot down well after the end of the war?

Stop making shit up.

Your Comments JeffDunne

#1711 Does Indonesia have the capability to defend incursions into it's waters? Bloody oath it does.
#1714 Indonesia certainly have the capability they need to orchestrate such an outcome.
#1753 you clearly think good old Oz is more than capable of ultimately defeating Indonesia in armed conflict, I don't (for a variety of reasons including our specific capabilities).
#1757 We would struggle to destroy their air defences
#1768 Indonesia could defend itself against incursions into it's waters. On that I have no doubt
Stop making shit up.

Ironic comment coming from you JeffDunne

Humour me . . . what am I lying about?

My opinion????

Did you make these comments below or not as you accused me of "making shit up" in post #1802?

I'm starting to get a little concerned by your obsession.

Yes . . . I did make those comments. I stand by them too.

Actually I did make one error . . . Indonesia didn't even need one boat to get us to back down.

JeffDunne in post #1787 you stated my "political and nationalistic sensitivities have been pricked".

What are my political and nationalistic sensitivities you speak of?

Getting back to the issue of this thread ....

Something I've probably missed in the reporting, why did Australia apologise for the incursions?

i.e. did Indonesia raise it or did we volunteer the information?

Given the current governments reluctance to apologise for anything or volunteer any information about what they are doing I'd say that either they got caught red-handed or were about to be.

I'm thinking it was along the lines of the Essendon drug scandal press conference.

I never said you march on Anzac day, I am not mad at you , this is the first time I have ever read your posts, I just get the feeling your running with in your posts that Australia's defence forces wouldn't be able to be match Indonesia , I feel this is blatantly wrong, and when you wont even answer j roo direct questions, you seem to skirt around, ps I don't suggest Australia could invade the place, but they could knock out all their navy and air defence without any issue but you say otherwise, but not giving a reason

Yeah probably.

The cynic in me is starting to think that it might have been part of a broader strategy to get Indonesia to move naval assets into the region. It would certainly help "our" case internationally in turning back boats if Indonesia's military are there and turning a blind eye.

Maybe, but that would be giving this bunch far too much credit based on their abilities demonstrated so far.
