crazy. what is the role of a key forward? take contested marks i50 and kick goals. hawkins was the best at contested marks, marks i50 and 2nd on the goal kicking behind buddy who plays as a half forward if anything. yet somehow they cant justify his selection?
Finished third, with the same number of wins as Hawthorn and Sydney, and get one AA position. What a joke.

Still fuming about the Hawkins omission from the team. He single handily won us games off his own boot (first Hawthorn game, Collingwood, Essendon sealer etc). His record against quality teams is probably only behind Franklin. Clearly the best FULL FORWARD. And not only that, he carried our entire forward line. Joke he didn't make it.

I'm admittedly not a fan of Hawkins but I find it unbelievably wrong that Riewoldt was in the side before him. Absolutely robbed.

Led them bravely all the way to the spoon - romantic nonsense from the selectors; in which case, where was Lonergan's guernsey?
Riewoldt had a good year, kept his chin up despite running around with a rabble, ran hard as always.
But Tom Hawkins genuinely scared the bejesus out of defenses this year.

Funny how all through the announcement of the side the selection panel kept talking about selecting players in position they played through the year.
Would love to know how many games Franklin played Full Forward.
If they wanted Franklin in he had to be CHF if it was then a choice between he and Reiwoldt then it is up to them to decide but Hawkins was the clear choice for Full Forward

Yeah I was surprised too, franklin played CHF for most the season. But Riewoldt was a general this season, he kept the structures and opened up space for his teammates.
