"He said clubs would soon look to trade players out of their clubs before they qualified for free agency in order maximise their compensation, and said the Crows were always searching for players wanting to return home to South Australia.

"Free agency will force clubs to look earlier, re-contract earlier and be more bullish about trying to trying to perhaps shift and move players earlier than what we might have in the past," Noble said"
Fair enough.
Nobes is a good operator. You'd think he wouldn't make such remarks without knowing the fate of our own players approaching free agency. I take some small comfort in that he must have a view of where the situations with Sloane/Danger are heading.

Guys unless you're a mental health professional making an official diagnosis, I'd recommend you leave the faking accusations out please.

Agreed, don't call him a fake. BUT it's fair enough to question why a change of clubs was required. He's from WA, it's not like he moved home.

He's suffering from depression and you question why he wants to move from the Melbourne footy club????

Melbourne supposedly out of the chase for Danger.

Sounds like they asked and he told them it wasn't gonna happen.
Power forward Jesse Hogan
So now even Hogan is playing for the Power? I suppose the Demons are a seconds team in a lower competition, so taking top up players from them is probably acceptable.
Again, this was a joke.
To be honest our list management crew have been under performing as well.
For example, why didnt we try for Clark? No use bitching that someone did something we didnt.
Look inside for that type of stuff.
Because he was a huge risk. Several years of injury and illness don't just become perfect overnight. Plus he'd have been asking for a decent salary.

Not many clubs were keen to get Clark once he recommitted to footy...

I'm sure this has been mentioned in the game day thread but, what was the thought on that "Danger in a Cats guernsey" thing from last nights game? I heard Megahead Lollipop Tom Rehn call it disgraceful and insulting on radio this morning...

I didnt have an issue with it, its already way beyond farcical to care anymore IMO. And I though Steve Johnson's response was gold FWIW. He went up a point in my book...

And so Geelong were and it paid off. Thats a risk they took that looks like it might have paid off. Obviously Geelongs list management guys saw something ours missed.
Expensive gamble IMO.

One we couldnt afford, literally.

I have to ask the question - we know that media outlets will continue to spank on about this and drag out as many people as they can to discuss Dangerfield to Geelong. BUT, when does the commentary from Geelong the club become too much for the AFL to tolerate? Isn't he contracted and hence not allowed to discuss contract negotiations? When does the players and coaches commenting on it and openly recruiting him become tampering?

There must be a line somewhere.

Wait a minute - one match in the NAB Cup qualifies as 'paid off'?? You are kidding right?
Let's see if;
a. he can get a kick in the season proper, and
b. he actually plays more than 10 games during the season.

Fair enough.

He took a punt on Danger. He believed that we could keep him. Thats ok. He is in talks with his manager and Danger himself, so he would have a better idea than me of his possible intentions.
But he cannot take that risk without then doing everything to make sure we get fair value if he does leave. If we just take a mid first round compo pick then he should be sacked. No ifs, no buts, no maybes.
If they match the offer, force it to trade and get a good deal, then I will say they did the right thing. I cannot stomach another example of us losing top talent for no fair compensation. I dont want my club to be a talent feeder club. At the moment thats what we are.

Did we? Where's the information that we 100% didn't ask about him?

So Clark has only ever played one good game of AFL? He hadnt shown what he is capable of before at Melbourne and Brisbane?
Ok, cool. Gotchya.

Very bold call. More than happy not to have Clark.

You dont get it. The AFL loves this shit. It keeps them in the newspapers. It keeps things rolling.

Geelong are the kings of tampering with the contracted player rules. They openly wined and dined Boak midway through the season. The AFL did nothing and will continue to bury their head in the sand.

Poor by Fox Footy, trying to stir things up.

Was very impressed with the way Stevie J shut them down. Made it a non issue straight away and ensured there was no more talk for the rest of the evening

Yep, its BS they would show something like that. Totally unprofessional

GWS illegally signed Davis before the end of the season, yet the AFL just told them not to do it again. Had the Crows of done that the contract would have been torn up, a 100k fine and lose of draft picks for two years.
The AFL does what it likes, to who it likes, when it likes.

I didn't realise they showed it on the big screen at the game. I thought it was only a tv thing. I agree it was disrespectful to Dangerfield and to the Crows to show it at the ground, where Danger could see it and was playing. He is a Crows player, playing in a game for the crows. It just rubs me the wrong way.

Also agree with Stevie J. Was a great answer and he gained a point in my books too.

You do know that during trade week that it comes out who is talking to who yeah? So post me the news reports where we were into Clark.

You know that not everything hits the media.

Into him, and asking the question are two different things.
