The restraint on trade argument is about the players ability to earn money, the RFA rules allow them to go to the team offering them the most money if they want to go there. Therefore their trade is not restrained. Restraint of trade does not apply to employer location.
The players employer is the AFL not the clubs, Dangerfield effectively works for the AFL out of their Adelaide office, he may want to work out of their Geelong office but the AFL is under no legal obligation to transfer him.
