Well I have to assume you've never heard or read his Australian Of The Year speech. If you have and are actually claiming it is racist you have terrible comprehension skills.

Invasion Day is one thing that comes to mind.

Why do fans boo when opposition line up for goal?
Because they think it helps them miss.

Fans barrack hard for their teams but rarely have a chance to make a difference.

Adam Goodes has proven that booing him affects his performance, to the point where he will not even play.

As opposition, why the hell wouldn't you boo?!
Because it's getting to him outside the oval. I want to put him off within the arena, but I don't wish any ill upon a sportsman outside the arena. I mean that's taking it too far.

Boo-ing is racism?

Damn there needs to be more players having un warranted time off!

I'm not a racist but, here's something Andrew Bolt wrote which supports my argument. Good job.

Becuase his opinion is different than yours he is a racist. FFS mate really. Just because people are not of the same thoughts as you doen;t make them a racist. You really are beyond it you know. You are very un-Australian because you do not support someone else having their own opinion.
Welcome to ignore flog

For the people who think Goodes should shut up- I assume you would not mind seeing Australia's 2100 population be made up of 90% Chinese and Mandarin become the official language and communism the political system ? Because that is the sort of domination the the Indigenous have faced, without a hint of exaggeration.
Lol fight racism with xenophobia and bigotry. Good one.

I'd hardly say people think Bolt is racist because he has a differing opinion. They think he's racist because 99% of his comments about indigenous people or those with a brown complexion are negative. And he denies the Stolen Generations happened. And he faced court for writing sarcastic columns full of mistruths claiming that indigenous people were only claiming aboriginal heritage because it got them arts grants...

“There was a lot of anger, a lot of sorrow, for this day and very much the feeling of invasion day,”

Yesterday commentators were saying that even though it may not be proven to be racist it is considered extreme bullying and should stop. My point is where wee these commentators defending someone like Milne who spent his whole career under more extreme bullying?

Everyone wonders why soccer is making ground on AFL in this country. Maybe it's because fans aren't allowed to do anything these days at AFL matches......if it was monkey chanting or racial, sexual or religious chanting I could cop it. But it's not, it's booing for **** sake.
So because people didn't stand up for someone in the past, they shouldn't now?

have you read any of the posts in this thread apart from your own. His speech has been posted countless times.......have you read it?

It's obvious he hasn't.

I hadn't read it before today... and hearing the furore regarding it I read it earlier expecting something slightly inflammatory.

I was shocked when I read it. There was nothing. He even wishes everyone a happy Aus day (or words that that effect).

If that's what they're hiding behind, well we've certainly got a long way to go as a country.

Who is censoring Goodes? Just a lot of people exercising their freedom of speech. Much like Adam has done.

He should have been advised, that if you step into the political spotlight, which he did with his Australian of the year speach, that most likely 50% of the population will disagree with what you say.
A stadium full of people boo-Ing the AOTY is a very ugly form of censoring. What's more, it not only censors Adam but also the next generation of aboriginal players.

I hate to say this - and yes I accept it is racist - but this is such a typical white thing to do. Why are we such a frightened race??

So because people didn't stand up for someone in the past, they shouldn't do it at all?

Or you haven't read anything because you swallowed the AFL/Media rhetoric
The posting style of people like you has already been addressed.

Post information as fact and then when asked to back it up you can't.

Why? Because you can't back up lies and/or misinformation.

Which is all good, I just wanted to see if Goodes indeed did what you said he did.

Which it would seem he didn't.

Carry on.

Not everyone agree's with Blainey. But lets discuss this: Firstly, prior to colonization, Aboriginal people would have had tribal conflict, similar to all countries. These were often law related, as Aborigial people had a powerful law structure and territorial boundaries. Second: To say life was hell on earth really makes little sense...How does a population survive for 40,000+ years in hell?? Thirdly: Yes, life expectancy for men was estimated to be 25. But, to put this into context, prior to 1800, the life expectancy of any man living anywhere was below 40. The average was 29. Fourth: Infanticide was practiced at times, but it was not "extremely" common. It was sometimes used as a form of population control during drought or famines. Also for "sickly" infants. What you dont point out is that infanticide was not just an Aboriginal thing. It was reasonably common in all peoples in all countries. "Infanticide has been practiced on every continent and by people on every level of cultural complexity, from hunters and gatherers to high civilization, including our own ancestors. Rather than being an exception, then, it has been the rule" (http://www.infanticide.org/history.htm).
You last comment about admitting their terrible pasts is not entirely relevant to reconcilliation. Do you think Aboriginal history prior to settlement has any relevance to reconcilliation?
I agree that Aboriginal people did kill white people and this is relevant to reconcilliation, but needs to be considered in context: If your people and land was invaded would you have fought back? If you saw white men rape, steal and kill you women would you have fought back?

Do you have a source to suggest it was related to a law structure? Certainly the narrative suggests it was eye-for-an-eye revenge.

Hell on earth is my personal label based on their regular state of fear. I would find that unimaginably awful. I don't necessarily link hell on earth to extinction. They survived because they were widespread and had high birth rates to compensate for short lives.

Agree about infanticide as a common thing but wanted to show how it was still an awful aspect.

25 years is still terribly young compared to all data I've seen historically on the topic (which I admit my knowledge on that isn't comprehensive).

I think my last point is relevant to reconciliation because as a gorgeous white man, I feel my people are made to feel like our ancestors made it worse when in fact there's more to the story that most people don't even know about - the history of Australia's people.
